Schroeder Cabinets ... smart design = very compact ! (regular and lights)

I hear ya man. I love Eden as well. But, in the search for a smaller, lighter rig I can't justify using my two D410XLT's and my Navigator/WT-1000 rack.

I was about to order a WT-800B but was asked to try the WT1205 again (tried it briefly a month ago).

As with people on this thread, I am going to try the Schroeders. I keep hearing that they are like Eden's with better bottom end (tighter) and much better projection in a box half the size and half the weight.

I have used Eden fdor the last three years and I can't get away from the Eden sound I love BUT if Jorg's cabs sound BETTER and are that much easier to lug around when I am in town, then I'd be a fool not to switch.

I"m looking forward to checking out the 1205 also. It seems to me, though, that if you don't need the channel switching, the 800(b) might be a better option... more extensive tone controls (all those semi-parametrics), and about the same power.

My rep asked me said this to me when I talked to him. "Mike, do you tweak a lot on the Navigator?" I said "not really, I keep it pretty flat but fluctuate between two different Enhance knob settings and I play with it off too." So I have three different ways I run the Nav.

The cool thing I saw after looking at it more this weekend is that, given that I play it flat (for the most part), that I can have two different enhance settings (one on each channel) and I have a footswitch to turn either of the Enhance's OFF.

I can also set one channel to a more rock tone (puched mids betwenn 250hz- 300hz) and the other to more of a scooped funk tone (more Enhance, etc.).

On top of that, the WT-1205 is only $42.50 more (my cost) than the WT-800B. I was leanig to the WT-800B but my rep had some great points about this amp. I am sure he also wants to get another one out for people to see but his points made a lot of sense to me.

When I tried it a month ago I kind of dismissed it because I thought I really didn't need a two channel amp. I may have been wrong. Iguess I will find out soon.

When it comes in I am taking a Thunderfunk 420 (thanks Dave) and an iAMP800 (thanks Mike) to Jorg's place to try his cabs and an El Whappo (thanks Mark) and maybe a couple EA cabs. I am bring both PJ5's and my Modern 5 for the tests.

Should be fun, though I think it'll take a while. I just need lighter cabs in town. The 98lbs. of each of my D410XLT's is just too much anymore.

I'll be interested to hear your impressions. I used to use a D410XLT, and I just got a Schroeder 4x10. The Schroeder, to my ears, is so much clearer and tighter in that low-mid area where I felt the D410XLT got a little muddy, especially on the lower notes. Plus, one Schroeder handles as much power as two XLTs and weighs 118 pounds less! It's really an amazing cabinet.

Makes sense. I'm so happy with the TF550 at the moment... that my interest in new amp heads is at an all time low! That 1205 looks very nice, though. Let us know what you think.

May sound silly, but I've heard from some folks being unpleasantly surprised by cabs (from other various brands) being a bit heavier , and not just a pound or two, but more like 10lbs differential, between the actual cab and the rated weight.

They BETTER be correct on their weight otherwise I will look at other cabs. The combination of light weight and ass-kickin' tone I keep hearing about is why I am interested in Jorg's stuff.

In talking to Jorg, lightweight is not something he is claiming to offer with these cabs. I think the lightweight comments are coming from most of us on the boards. I consider them to be lightweight compared to the Ampeg BXT 4x10 cabs (two of em) that I used to carry around ( 122lbs ea )

Agreed. But, I need lighter weight cabs than my D410XLT's (98 each). I hope the specs on Jorg's site are right. They are slightly heavier than the lightweight competitors BUT that is ok with me.

If a 1210 can sonicly keep up with ONE of my XLT's and have close to the same volume and projection I am sold.

But weight is a contributing factor for me. i have been lucky to have others lug my stuff in the past. But doing more in-town means I am handling my stuff more and 98lbs. a cab is just too much now.

If they are stated to be 47 lbs. then they should be 47 lbs. Now, if they were slightly heavier, say 50 lbs., that would be ok.

What would suck would be my experience with the Aggie DB750. That was supposed to be 43 lbs. That was the HEAVIEST DAMN 43 lbs. I have ever felt. I didn't weigh it but I would bet it is more close to 55 lbs.

I am having a hard time waiting to go to Jorg's. It is killing me. LOL

Your shoot-out is definitely an extravaganza in my book. Thunderfunk, Eden, EA amps...Schroeder, Accugroove, EA cabs....Come on! That's just good stuff.

Now, going over to Tom's house would simply be obscene. It would literally take me weeks to play through all the combinations of amps and cabs that that psychopath (meant as a term of endearment) has collected.

Looking forward to the results as I'm interested in the Eden + Schroeder combination as well. I'm considering picking up a new WT800B and a 21012 or a 410 from Jorg or possibly an Epifani UL410. Make sure you fire up that 1205 with a couple of his big cabs!

I never had that problem with the low-mids. Not that I noticed anyway. I use an APhex 204 Aural Exciter and it expands the entire tonal range and actually adds some punch to the final signal. I love that unit. I also get HUGE SUB LOWS that are tight as hell. Far below what the cab SHOULD be able to do. The Aphex stuff really is amazing cuz it doesn't add any gain to the speakers so no farting or distorting. Guess that's why they have a Patent on it!

It's also extremely loud and clear.
I practiced with the band tonight using the 1212 and my Thunderfunk tfb550.
We got really loud tonight as sometimes happens. (PA, full drums, (earplugs!), the whole bit)
my gain setting was at 5, my volume at 4, and my onboard volume was at like 1 or 2.
Seriously, this was all I needed. I even played with a light touch to keep from blasting those guys out. I've said this before; it's like having a Ferrari but never getting it out of first gear. We have an outdoor gig on Thursday so Maybe I'll finally get to crank it!

This is 56 lbs. that I'm happy to lug around.

Hmmm? If the tone is there I will buy anyway. But very curious about weight.

BTW, what does Jorg use to build these cabs? I have bugged him enough lately so I won't email or call him about this. Most manufactureres list the wood, type of construction, etc.
