I feel that all the groups I've played in have "gone over better", meaning more and more positive crowd reaction since I switched to Schroeder, not ever thinking that it's because maybe the band "sounds" better, or maybe there's more energy on stage because of the improved "sound". I would love to think that I had some positive contribution to the subjective notion of crowd participation and acceptance, but won't go that far.

Wanted to ask you about the Musicman basses in your pictures....since when do they make stingrays and sterlings with two pickups? Is that strictly an export thing?

The guys on the megathread who have a 1210 and 1212 seem to be really satisfied, and use the 1212 as their one cabinet solution, and both for concerts or even louder stage or venue volume for whatever reason. Lkaye

Of course it's the alchemy of you and your equipment! The machine just by itself sits and says nothing!

About the MusicMan basses, as happened so many times during the show I asked when a particular item came out and was told it hadn't!
The two pickup Sterlings and StingRays are supposed to be out next year and hopefully there'll be a Sterling 5'ver as well! Whether they'll be available stateside or not I have no idea but my assumption is that they would be. Maybe someone else know better but I was sure jazzed to the the Sterling in particular!

What did you think of the Stingray and Rickenbacker fretless basses!

For the Schroeder I had been thinking about that option too, hence the idea of simply adding a 1212 to the 1210... or a Mini 12.

Anyway, thanks again for all the Focus and Schroeder reporting! :D

Larry-I have to agree with Akami-your thourogh and balanced reports were one of the most important influences on me in re: to getting a Schroeder cabinet short of trying one for myself. And your'e also absolutely right-I've never played on any cab this small ,this loud, with this kind of great tone, that made the band sound so good. Our band sounded at least twice as good :D as usual for our first practice with the 410 last night and it energized everyone to play better. As one of my guitarists said "The bass has always been the most important part of the band IMO-and now your cabinet has made that clear".The bass live now sounds more like it does on a well recorded CD with loud clear bass...and I like that!...Peace...DAcat

OK, I've taken the plunge into the single cab solution world of Jorg Schroeder (and that is pronounced like "Yorg" auf Deutsche in case you didn't know already!! :D ).

My 21012 is on its way and I am soo excited! :hyper:

In preparation for its arrival, I have given my rig a complete makeover into the modular world of amplification. I also have a brand new Aggie DB 659 on its way courtesy of Eric at Martin Music Guitar in Tenessee. Paid $710 shipped for this baby!! He was selling one on Ebay and had another at the same price. Sometimes the Bay ain't all bad!! LOL! Oh, and speaking of the bay, I bought a new RMX1450 for $330 shipped as well. I know, it weighs a ton compared to the PLX line but I'm still young enough to carry it. After all, the Aggie is only 6 pounds!

But, back to Jorg and Brian at Low End, who really are great to work with. Brian spent lot's of timewith me talking basses over the weekend and Jorg took time out of his day to speak with me regarding the 21012 vs. the 410 sound, to tell me how the whole thing got started for him, his current gig and how he is retired from the practice of law and really enjoying what he is doing. Fantastic!

Everything everyone has said about Jorg is absolutely true! He treated me today like a long-standing and trusted friend, not like a guy who has just stumbled into his world from way out in Houston!

Jorg, your a peach!! And thanks to Brian at Low End as well. :bassist:

Actually, and I have benefitted from the input of many others here as well, both regarding Schroeder cabs as well as which preamp to get. Thanks to everyone! :crying:

Congrats!

That should be a great sounding system.

I haven't been to their website in years so I don't know but the one obvious negative to their non-Bongo basses is the perceived limitation on versatility because of the one pickup especially placed where it is, yes?

The new range of MM's have twin humbuckers, and H/J combo's. They were shown last NAMM.

I also agree that the band sounds better since my Schroeder. People have commented that (especially when a guitarist is soloing) it sounds thicker and bigger.. Also that there's just more energy coming from the stage..

I've heard other bassists in their bands, in the same rooms I'm playing in. Their rigs have been anywhere from an old Peavey TNT115 or 150 type of small comboamp, to medium sized combos like a Carvin Cyclops and an Aguilar 212, to a full eden 210/115, Hartke 210 or 410 and a 115, Sunn 1200S and 2 swr Goliath Jr cabs. Eden 410XLT, SWR Goliath 410, Mesa 115 and Ashdown 500 and various Ampeg and GK heads and cabinets, including 410's. In these clubs using my AI Focus and the 1210 mind you, not the 410,,,,I'll talk about that in a second, the 1210, without PA support is every bit as loud and cleaner than anything else I've heard in those rooms.

There's obviously more factors than just the Schroeders, but I'm using the same bass, eq settings, and have an amp head that's not very coloring, so the biggest difference is the speaker cabinet from whence I came to where I be today.

The sensitivity of the 1210/1212 at 102 Decibels I believe is amoung the highest for a two speaker cabinet housing at least 1 ten inch speaker around. It's wattage capacity of 850 is definitely the most I've seen in a small cabinet. If you're feeding a 1210 Schroeder with clean power and arent' needing or expecting dub reggae, sub woofer craziness tonewise, with the higher efficiency than "usual" and the higher wattage capacity, there can be perceived volume that equals and possibly exceeds many of the 310 and 410 cabinets out there in a 1210 or 1212 box. I will say this...it's a heck of a lot louder than any 210 I've ever heard, no doubt. The 1210 can cover many small to medium sized venues with no PA support without being "overbearing" on stage volume because of the tone it produces.

Now onto the 410. I've only owned one 410 rig and it was comprised of 2 210 cabinets. See, basicially, I'm a wuss when it comes to shlepping, The 410 Schroeder is my last adventure into "middle weight" cabinets. The 410 however, packs a heavyweight punch and volume.. It can cover without PA support most any gig indoors and outdoors that I've played. Outdoor limited venues....like large tents or confined church or school yards, parking lots versus, balls to the wall "Woodstock" type of concert venues with thousands or tens or thousands of people, I don't think, realistically, we'd be playing without PA support. The 410 is louder on stage and projects much more bottom, punch, and volume into the venue than my 1210 does, and at some of the gigs
I was just too freakin' loud even though my onstage volume didn't "seem" to be any louder than the 1210 did, I had management tell me to turn down (and our soundman) before people started getting sick to their stomachs.

Where I have PA support but 1/2 the time he turns me off or almost off, unless there's other issues, I use the 1210 being the wuss I am. Where I do use the 410, I try to be extra conscious of how much bottom is being emphasized on my graphic and my bass, and try to run as flat as possible with 410 and 1210, But to answer subject....there has been no gigs I've played since my Schroeders arrived that I can't be heard plain as day in literally any room or outdoor venue, with or without PA support even though the footprint of the cabinets are super small compared to other 210,212 or 410 boxes.

hi

Just got my 1210 and let me tell you
I'm amazed that such a small cabinet can
put out so much volume and clean sound.

now I have to gig with it over the weekend
on a band set up and come back with a final verdict
but with my experience so far I think
it's definetely a keeper.

I'm using a GK 1001 RBII head and it rocks!

Another important thing is that
fits just perfect on my Mini Cooper S

I like it so much that now
I'm distributing the line here in P.R.

Thanks Jorg for being a class act and
buiding such a great quality product.

regards,
Charles

I'm curious as to whether we'll ever see wheels on the 310212.

I want to own one of these sometime in the not so distant future to be my scary cab. But...I don't want to have to buy a handtruck from harbor freight to go along with it....

just curious

Casters can be put on by request, I think Jorge just doesn't trust them given the weight of the cab. My attitude was, if my 125lb BXT could use casters, the 3101212 could.

Unfortunately in my haste to get my cab and his more than accomadating shipping times, we forgot to include them (which Jorge made good on, I assure you! :) but I never did get a good set on there yet, I tried some weaker ones, that well, weren't up to the task (attachment system wasn't good, wheels fine). I'll get something on there soon.

I'm pulling the trigger on a 310212 in the next day or 2. I plan on ordering it with the casters, if for no other reason, to keep it off the wet ground when moving it. The hand truck will work, but you still stand the chance of getting it wet when you set the truck down. I also plan on getting the flite case version along with a padded cover. The 2 guys that just bought my Edens will tell you that those padded covers work like a champ. There is an outside chance that I may still go with a Boogie Powerhouse 1000, but I doubt it.

Thanks for the input! I'm very optimistic about it, and if it puts out even remotely the punch that my Eden 410 does I'll be a very happy camper.

A lot of the places we play we are tight on space and I really don't NEED a 410 cab, but we do play some outdoor gigs that I need that 410 to be heard. I'll probably continue using the Eden as well as the 1210, just depending on the venue. We also have a full PA with subs, so that's another reason I was looking into a smaller rig because there is no use hauling that big PA if you aren't gonna run the bass rig through it.

It does feature short rubber feet which does keep it elevated, albeit a very small amount.

I'm sure, but you know how it is gigging in bad weather. Especially since it's such a nice piece of equipment. It's not like you could go down to GC and replace it easily if something happened to it. Besides, I'm into trying to keep my "investments" a nice as possible. This whole line of thinking is what still has me condsidering the Boogie. They are a dime a dozen.
