Schroeder Cabinets ... smart design = very compact ! (regular and lights)

While I've been happy with my string bass sound, the trip to hear the Schroeders was brought about by my increasing unhappiness with the Bergie that I pair with either an EA VL110 or an older Avatar single 12 for bass guitar and doubling rigs.

However, the Bergantino didn't hold up as a stand alone cabinet--and this might be a very unfair comparison since I don't think that Bergantino ever anticipated the HT112 as being used this way when he designed it. The Bergantino simply sounded too thin in comparison.

To bad you couldn't compare the 1210 to a Berg HT/HT or HT/EX like I'm doing right now. Very challenging test. I hardly ever use the single Berg, but Oh Momma with two. Still the 1210 can get as loud but does sound different. You should hear either setup with a big power amp like my CA9.... OH MY GOD! Too heavy to lug around with the mini rigs though.

Good luck and glad you're happy! I'm still checking mine out.

Can you compared the tonal differences between your 1210 and the HT/EX stack?

There is a test result on the Berg vs. Schroeder string.
Basically, I found the 1210 with a pronounced lower midrange bump as compared to my ears more smooth on the Berg mini stack. Otherwise the 1210 was very pleasant and accurate. That was with my WWU and Sad PJ4 mostly. I eq'd some of it out and it sounded better to me. My test room sucks though.... I really can't turn anything up without getting vibrations and rattles from window frames and doors etc.

So my 21012 finally arrived yesterday, and though I'll save the big review until after practice and a show, suffice it for now to say that I've nailed the sound I wanted, at least in my living room, so I'm satisfied and stoked.

congrats! I can't wait for the review.

I was just playing though my rig earlier today an still cannot get over how perfect the 1210 is for me! I know I sound like a broken record... but my fretless 6 string Benavente through a Schroeder 1210 just gives me chills it's sooo good!

What kills me most, is that it is so loud, and sounds so good, and is so SMALL!! People just can't get over the fact that all that tone (I may suck, but I have great tone) comes out of that little box!! It's un-real.

Now.... I wonder what would happen if I put a 21012 under my 1210? Hmmm....

In the meantime I'm stuck playing that Orange thing in my Avatar. It's Awful. I hate it. It sucks!!! ;)

Thanks.... your LEJ sounds like it will be a great bass. And it would sound great through a 1210!!! or any of the Schroeder boxes!

:D

I know some people only play their top line stuff at home, but I can't justify having $2000+ basses if they don't get used on gigs. My less expensive stuff sits on the wall, and sometimes I feel guilty that it doesn't get played a lot.

But with things like a Nordstrand SC5, a Zon Sonus Custom and a Peavey Cirrus 6 around, it is hard to get excited about Fenders, Westones, Ibanez and Lakland Skylines.
