One thing I've noticed, is the tweet is very noisy. I have it barely open and it produces a noticable hiss without signal, at a similiar (actually less) volume where my other cabs sat, which had two tweeters, both half open, and made not a peep. Granted live, this isn't a big deal.

Again, the midbass bump, I've had to adjust my eq'ing a bit to compensate so my lows don't kill everyone, and it's got plenty.

Volume is capable of drowning everyone out, and make the drummer want to mic his kit. Although I've never practiced this, just in messing with it alone. And this is only a plx1602 bridged. At practice volume with the loud drummer, and a good mix in the room, I'm barely hitting two bars on it's ouput.

It's more than capable of replacing most if not all full stacks as far as volume, and most as far as tone.

It's taken some time to retweak my sound to match the new cab, as it is way differently colored than the bxt's, but I'm certainly not unhappy with the sound. And even though it's still sort of a beast, it's way better than lugging both the heavy cabs I was before, and it's still lighter than my 410. I have yet to gig with it, since we have been rehearsing for heading to the studio this weekend, and no I won't be recording with it.

I've had my bxt's for sale for awhile, and they still are, so that should say something. The only thing I'll miss is the really clean tweets (having two probably is what made it work).

Thats weird that you say that about the tweeters based on the rest of the reviews.

How is your EQ set?

I got it for what they list for... check the pricing guide on thelowend...

It's about 100 lbs. Lighter than the bxt410 that weighs in at about 125, although at its size, it's not necessarily easier to move around! :)

As far as eq settings and all that, it shouldn't matter, as I mentioned, with two tweets it was silent, and I'm actually running less highs than I used to.

As far as being faulty, well with all the other troubles I've had so far, that wouldn't surprise me. But I figured I'd mention it to see if it is par for the course.

And yes I've taken everything out of the signal chain to verify.

What about the mini12+, has no one gotten to try that? I am quite interested in that, as I play relatively lower volume shows, if it lives up to the schroeder rep I'm sure it will kick just as much ass as everything else!

Just another quick note to mention I've talked to Jorg, and we're going to try another horn.

I figured I'd clear a few things up, and I never intended to mislead or have anyone misinterpret my comments. And I never intended any of it to be public, so I just figured I'd specify now what I was talking about.

As far as 'problems'... As per my luck these days, we simply experienced some problems with shipping companies and many damaged components initially. Jorg made every effort to fix the situations above and beyond the call of duty.

I have been nothing but honest in my reviews and comparisons, and I wasn't sure if the tweeter issue was on par, so I figured I'd mention it and see what others said, either they were keeping quiet or I had a dud. But apparently again, my wonderful luck in action.

I haven't plugged in the BXT cabs since the 3101212 took up residence next to them. They serve as an overpriced rack stand at the moment ;) I'm fully digging the Schroeder. And the absolutely amazing customer service has me gassing for a 1210 to compliment it and play little brother for those small gigs when ol' big bro 3101212 doesn't feel like playing nice down the stairs out of the practice room :) (Speaking of that, this is what I have to deal with when loading and unloading from the practice space, yes, that hallway at the top of the Link Removed )

Chiming in late I know, but I have both a Schroeder 1212 and a
pair of EA CXL112's. They are really very different. Before I got the Schroeder, Scooperman and I did this shootout here which included his 1210 and another EA CXL112: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149011

Interesting to note that during the shootout I liked to slightly cut the mids and boost the bass with the Clarus through the Schroeder 1210. With my 1212, I've found the exact opposite - I like a bit of mid boost and a bit of bass cut. And I think I prefer the resulting midrange, although it's hard to say without a side-by-side comparison of 1212 vs 1210. I would love to
try that sometime. Going by memory of the 1210, I think the
1212 beats it in the "CD player test" - mids are smoother and the highs sound great.

I'll summarize again my feelings about the CXL112 vs Schroeder 1212:


The EA CXL112 sounds thinner at first glance, but goes deeper, has much flatter midbass, the tweeter is a bit strident in the upper mids. Wins if you prefer extreme tightness and flatness in your lows and midbass, don't mind an aggressive-bordering-on-harsh upper midrange, and can carry two of 'em and/or a kickass power amp for loud gigs.

The Schroeder is louder, has more (and somewhat peakier) midbass, and has a smoother tweeter (a bit subdued even).
The tweeter is really growing on me, I think it's now my favorite bass cab tweeter. I can crank the treble on my amp to ridiculous extremes and it still doesn't sound harsh. Wins if you want
the most bang-for-the-ounce, hate any hint of harshness in the upper mids, and don't mind a less-than-ruler-flat bass response.


While I think a pair of CXL112's is really a great rig, having really first-rate low end, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna sell one of mine anyway and keep the Schroeder because portability is a really big deal to me. If I need a rig-of-doom I can always stack one CXL112 with the 1212 - wheee! (Haven't tried that yet due to currently missing speaker cable - got some more on order).

I just wish I had gigs coming up so I could try the 1212 in the real world :crying:

I will begin this post by sending out a huge "thanks" to all of the very knowledgeable bassists at TB! Their wisdom and advice have led me further along on my quest for power, tone and portability.
I missed out on an identical rig for sale by "The Dude" on TB because of a careless winter driver and unexpected car repairs and purchased new.
I have received my new EA iAmp800 and Schroeder 1210!!!
My Eden Metro and 210xlt are sitting in the garage and the new set-up has gone with me to a few of my acoustis trio gigs with good results. The EQ on the amp differs from my Eden but the iAmp sounds very good, IMHO, played flat and occasionaly with contour I engaged.
I don't have a gig with a drummer until next Saturday so, a "mid-level volume" review will have to wait until then.
It isn't that there aren,t enough positive reviews here but I'll just toss in my thoughts.

I've been using my new mini 12+ on top of my 1210 for the past few weeks and it's a great setup. I put the 1210 on end so the 12 is angled up, towards my head, and I set the mini 12+ so the driver is angled towards the drummer/percussionists.

We play a club with a stage set back in a hole so that the bass is difficult to hear. Usually it's not louder than the bounceback from the house subwoofers. I've sat in on that stage with bands where the bass player had an SWR 410 and a SWR head with the enhance cranked and the mids cut, and I couldn't hear a damn thing I played even though it sounded real loud from the dancefloor.

The new setup seems to disperse the bass clearly around the stage without getting so loud in front that the soundman asks me to turn down. I play with a pretty loud drummer and 3 percussionists (congas, bongos/cahon & timbales) and they rave about how well they can hear the bass.

The mini 12+ alone is nice for small setups, and with the driver angled up I can hear it better than my Bergie 112, unless I tilt the bergie up or raise it really high.

For deep lows out in the house with no PA I still really like the Bergie 112 ministack.

Must be tuff with perfect weather all the time! I’m going to have to take a vacation to Hawaii sometime.

As for the Blues, well, I’ve got that covered here in Memphis, I’m home of the blues, but I want Paradise!
