I actually made the 1210 comparison at the 4ohm load, so it was 2 CXL-110s and the one 1210 w/ the same wattage. I never even compared one CXL-110 w/ the 1210 because it wasn't a fair comparison in volume since the 1210 was a 4ohm cab and the CXL-110 was an 8ohm cab. As you mentioned, the EA stuff seems to fart when pushed higher than half volume. The 1210 will fart out, but only at high volume. I haven't played the CXL-112, so I can't say how it would compare w/ the CXL-110, but I would assume that it would have a similar lowend response of the 1210 that the CXL-110 just can't get, even with two. Just my take...I still love a Euphonic cabs, but the Schroeder 1210 has been a godsend.

Have you tried any other EA cabs? FWIW, I recently picked up a CxL-110, and it is rather bass-shy compared to my other EA cabs. It also does not seem to like volume the way other EA cabs do. You can toss a ridiculous amount of power into a pair of VL-210's, and they will never even think about "farting out." The CxL-112 is on the thin side for EA cabs, but responds to EQ fairly well. The CxL-110 and CxL-112 are fine cabs, but they are probably my two least favorite EA cabs (which is really just saying great things about the rest of the line, not bad things about those two).

But back to Jorg's cabs, they are loud mothers, that's for sure! They pack a ton of sound in a compact package.

shelpping? decent tone. What's "funny" is that when I compare one of my LDS 208's with the CXL 112, 4 and 8 ohm mismatch like you mentioned, the CXL still's louder and has a much more "balanced" tone than one LDS, but both LDS's together, totally demoralize the CXL 112, but you're talking about 32 inches of speakers vs 12. But the two LDS's together are lighter and less expensive than the EA and mucho, mucho louder and nice sounding.

All I'm saying is that I don't feel it's only the ohmage difference. It's the sensitivity too...my LDS cabs are Acme-ish+ in their sensitivity...around 97...still better than acme's. But with 1200 watts pushing 'em, they really cut the muster. Unfortunately, in order to do so, I'm using a 57 pound rack of stuff with my head and the two cabs are a light 62 or 63 pounds total....that's still right at 120 pounds.

The 1210 was a godsend to me because, as mentioned in a prior post, it had more lowend than the CXL-110s. The DB response per watt on the Schroeder has to be close to that of the EA. It's a very loud cab. As far as SPL of the two CXL-110 goes, in theory it should produce more sound and air, but I didn't notice it nor did the others.

Tom,
The only other EA cab that I have played was the VL-108 that I sold you. I heard that the other cabs do have better lowend response, like the old VL-210, but I believe the VL series really isn't too efficient so you need to put a bunch of power to them before they really shine.

how long on average does it take to get a schroeder built. Im thinking about getting a 1212 in a couple months when i get the money. Just spent all my money on rack stuff.

A 2 week Build is pretty standard for cabs that are shipping to customer's. However you can go to a Schroeder dealer and pickup a cab. All Schroeder dealer's have the 21012, 410, 1212, 1210 &1010 instock unless it sold and another one is in transit to them.

I'll be interested in your review of the 1210 vs. the CXL112. I'm currently using two of the EAs and love the tone. The only cabs that I've even thought of since I bought these a couple years ago have been the Schroeders. I've been thinking about buying a 1212 + 1210 set up. I know I'll undoubtedly get more volume, but will I get that "studio monitor" clarity from the Scroeders?
Look forward to your (or anyone else's) direct comparison.

I own both a 1210 and a birch CxL-112. For my needs, they complement each other perfectly. I use the CxL for EUB in a moderate volume jazz setting, and the Schroeder for fretless BG for fusion, rock, hip-hop, etc. The Schroeder's fine for EUB, but it doesn't have the low end extension or razor high end of the CxL. It takes my EUB towards a fretless BG sound a bit, IOW. This works great in a loud situation, it's not necessarily a bad thing at all. The CxL's fine for fretless, but typically needs more FOH support with 2 guitars to cut through, and more aggressive EQ'ing if I want a growly sound. Hence, I can run out of headroom sooner than when using the Schroeder. That's with one CxL, remember.

To make them sound close to the same, it seems to take nearly an inverse EQ curve from one to the other, for what I do. But then, I dont want them to sound the same, really. I tried plugging them both into my iAmp at the same time at a fairly loud volume, and the CxL wasn't buried at all, I could hear the highs and lows mainly off it, and the whole mix sounded great, actually. I haven't tried this on a gig yet, but maybe I will next week.

I'm concerned that I'll be loud but less clear, if that makes any sense?

That depends on which part of the frequency spectrum you cue in on, and where the sonic space is available in your band and room. As so often happens here, I'd say get both. :bawl:

GOT IT :hyper: GOT IT :hyper: Played it :hyper: LOVE IT I went and sold my SWR Big Ben and ordered the 1212... You cannot believe the tightness and the lows that come out of this little tiny Mini12 cabinet. Tight :D Now I have to wait 3 weeks for my new 1212  :bassist:

iriegnome, does this cab get loud enough to where you see no reason to go up to the 21012? I'm in a dilemma, know i want a schroeder, just not sure which one.

thanks

Also, those of you who have boght these cabs, is it cheaper to buy directly from Jorg, or from one of the dealers.

I believe you will get the same price either way. Buying from a dealer (Pete Skjold, Brian Barrett, etc) will allow them to do their job and help YOU get the best cab for your needs. Jorg will also be as helpful as anyone, but the dealers are there for a reason, use them.

I have a 21012 and a 1210. For me, the 1210 is plenty loud against two guitarists and drummer that breaks sticks every set, and has to put new heads on his drums every other show. The 1210 will easily sound most places in Oklahoma City that have 300 to 500 capacity. The 21012 I bought "just cause".. I don't need it, but it looks cool with both on stage.

(just my two cents)

Hopefully nobody considers my statement as spam:

Due to the low production it takes ~ 3 weeks to get a cabinet shipped out, in some instances 6-7 weeks (i.e. 310212). Schroeder Cabinets has dealers which are supported by myself diligently. I had a couple of "Post-Namm" models available which weren't in stock at Schroeder dealers; if someone shows interest I'll be glad to inform anyone of the nearest located resource.

The 1210 can get loud but is no replacement for a 410 or 21012. It is always recommendable to play safe and take the individual cabinet's wattage under considertion and avoid "stressing" it to infinity.

thanks everyone here on TB for your support

Sincerely,

Jorg

After spending the morning reading most of this thread, I went and picked up a 1210 from the Atlanta Bass Gallery from Jim. :hyper:

I was in a hurry, so I didn't bother playing through it while I was there. And, unfortunately, my Walkabout is in the shop. :( So, I'll have to hook it up to my backup setup when I get home unless I do something else stupid on the way home from work today. :hiding:

Thanks for chiming in Jorg... I certainly didn't want to step on anyones toes...

I think the covers are ready, I ordered my 1210 with one...
Now the worst part, I'll be without cab until the end of March (it will be shipped to Italy...Usps I'm with you...)

I went to pete skjold's shop to check out the cabinents. By the way if you haven't played one a pete's custom basses you are missing out, they a fan-****ing-tastic.

I thought the way that the 10's and 12's "mix" really make them the best cabinents. My favorites were the 1210 and the 21012 because i thought they covered the tone spectrum better than the 1212 or 410. The 21012 is considerbly much louder than the 1210 and i think it would handle an outside gig better. To say the least I ordered one.

21012 = my baby in 3 weeks! :hyper: :hyper:
