Schroeder Cabinets ... smart design = very compact ! (regular and lights)

We did a benefit concert this past Friday night with 2 other bands. The one bassist was running through a 2x15" cabinet, the other through a 4x10" on top of a 1x15". You couldn't even see my 1210 on the stage compared to the other 2 rigs, but the "little Schroeder that could" blew both rigs away hands down in both volume AND tone
At one point during the sound check the sound guy called out to me confused because he couldn't figure out what channel I was going through on the board. You should have seen his face when I told him I wasn't DI'd through the PA and he came up to the stage to see what I was plugged into

I picked up the covers for my 21012 and 1210 from Jim at Atlanta Bass Gallery Saturday. These covers are first class and almost bullet proof. Mine fit like a glove and don't slide up when moving like most covers do. Since the covers are avaliable now I think it's well worth the extra cost to protect these cabinets. For the guys in the Atlanta area, Bass Gallery has Schroeder cabinets (and other mighty fine equipment and basses) in stock if you want to try one out.

But to put it this way, I played this past weekend against a non-mic'd Mesa Dual Rec/4x12 stack, mic'd drum set, two vox, and acoustic guitar going through the PA-
I OWNED the entire stage setup with my SVT-III Pro and 1210. And that's HALF of what the Schroeder can handle. It's unbelieveable. It exceeds expectations above and beyond what anyone here has said (even the REALLY good things!!!) During rehearsal on Friday, I knocked the entire row of condiments (salt, pepper, various hot sauces, etc..) off of the stove/range 2 rooms away with my lil 1210 during rehearsal. Needless to say, everyone was struck in awe.
I cannot WAIT to get my PLX 3002 and Demeter pre, plus a 1212, as I'll be playing Modulus basses and will need that thump for my low B.
Anyways, full review tomorrow probably.

I've been using AI Focus 1R with my Schroeder 1212 since December, around 16 gigs so far. What can I say? This set-up surpasses anything I've used in the past and I've tried almost everything out there. Is it full and big sounding? Yup! Absolutely.
People ask, "Where's your rig?" It's so compact you can't even see it behind me. No more 410/15 setups This rig rocks and it's sounds so tasty too!

Well, I haven't tried the GK head with a 4x10 cabinet (I sold my Avatar B410 before I purchased the GK), but here are my impressions of the GK/1210 combination...Mike Money said:
First off, it can get insanely LOUD! I used to use a SansAmp RBI through a QSC PLX1602 bridged into the B410 (8ohm cabinet), all of which I sold before I got the GK and Schroeder, but my comparison from memory is that my new setup not only gets much louder, there's more punch (especially in the low mids) and it just sounds bigger than my old setup at stage volumes. Not to mention it cuts like a knife in the mix. I must say that when I first played through the rig in my basement I wasn't all that impressed with the GK head compared to the BX3000T I had purchased as a backup head. At lower volumes the Behringer sounded much fuller, deeper and richer through the 1210. This however turned out to be more of a disadvantage when I compared the two at a gig. At stage volumes, the Behringer sounds a bit muddy where the GK sounds deep and full, yet very focused.
I'm not sure if any of that really helps you, but I can say that in all my years of playing bass (over 25 years), I've never felt like I could command the stage as I do with this head/cabinet combination... and the size/weight just adds to my euphoria.

I'm really really interested in the 1210, though.
The 1210 is absolutely great with fretless BG for fusion jazz, and also worked quite well with EUB in an alt-country band I was jamming with last week. Don't let the "loud" factor throw you off, the 1210 is suitable for a whole lot beyond hard rock sounds.

At last I checked, all of the Schroeder "Small Box" cabinets (1010, 1012 & 1212) went for $649 (plus $40 shipping in the continental U.S.). I was able to get my 1001RBII at a local Guitar Center brand new for under $600 (including sales tax) just by printing out and showing them several threads here at TB where other members had purchased their GKs at other GCs at similar amounts.Mike Money said:

At the mixing console (which was about 15 feet from the rear of the Sanctuary) my SPL meter was averaging about 98db (A weighting slow response).
The other rigs on stage were a Hartke 3500 through a 2x15" cab (didn't get a chance to see the manufacturer), and a Hartke 4000 through a Hartke VX410/VX115 stack.
EDIT: Both of these rigs had PA support as well. I didn't because the soundguy didn't noticed my little rig sitting there.

What's the tonal difference between Mesa and Schroeder? I'm digging Mesa heads and cabs, but sooo much money. I'm looking to get a schroeder that could be loud enough for almost any of my gigs (old school hard rock, we play loud) yet nice and easy to carry around. I'm thinking 21012 or something?

I think that the M-Pulse 600 into a 21012 would be killer. I am not as familiar with the more modern Mesa Boogie cabs, but I don't think that you would be disappointed pairing Mesa amps with Jorg's cabs. In fact, it would probably be a killer combination.
