The guy auditioning the Schro410 has ordered a 1210.
He wants something more portable.

I'm thinking about getting the 410 that he has; just a matter of making sure it's what I think it is (a fabulous cab that more closely matches my ideal tone).

BTW: Jorg, are there any plans to provide casters?

Pop-out casters cost me an extra $26.00. My local hardware store sells them for $7.00 each.

I'm sitting here at work on my day off waiting for the FedEx delivery of my 1210. I hate FedEx. I know he'll show between 4-5.

Joeybcdt...why are you having it delivered to work...a 70 lb home delivery limit or security or ???

I've generally been happy with FedEx Ground, especially compared to Brown, but they just lost an amp in Harford. Suspecting that the bar code fell off, I learned that they truck all those misfit packages to Salt Lake City to a central storage area...then they start to look for it....the cross country journey takes 10 days. The real maddening thing is that I specifically asked the seller to use FedEx Ground because I've had great luck and they're 30% cheaper than UPS.

Not to hijack the thread... I look forward to your comments on the 1210! :bassist:

Two simple reasons:
1. Some shippers charge more to deliver to residential addresses.
2. My wife won't see the delivery.

Like I said, I HATE FedEX. I received the cab today. One of the handles was broken. That would've taken a pretty hard hit to do that. I've already emailed Jorg. I'm sure he'll send me another one asap.

I have to wait until tonight to test it. I can't fire up the jam room during business hours.

Unfortunately both major shipping companies do not handle merchandise appropriately, which is regretful. I decided to use Fedex because they handle an insurance claim easier than the "brown" colored company. It's really something to take such mishaps under consideration.

Joey, please contact me as soon as you've played the cabinet extensively. If there is any other damage you will get a new cabinet a.s.a.p.

joeybcdt...shipping damage...man that sucks...I'm sorry it happened too. :( Hopefully the whack that the cabinet took didn't ruin the speakers. I had a 1x18 show up one time with the whole magnet assembly rolling around in the bottom of the cabinet. Surprisingly, it didn't damage the voice coil and I was actually able to put it back together.

How could I forget No. 2!!!! :D

As a casual observer, I appreciate Brian and Jorg's quick actions.

I watched with great interest the other day when DHL had a nice ad on TV... It's the one with the FedEx and UPS drivers facing each other on either side of a railroad crossing. Suddenly a train flies between them pulling flatbed after flatbed of DHL trucks. I looked on DHL.com and their Ground prices are right in line with FedEx Ground (about 30% less than UPS). Maybe I'll give them a try next time.

Jorg Called me on cell as soon as he got my email. If nothing else, I like Jorg.

It seems to test fine. No buzzes or rattles, both drivers are moving. Should I remove the back cover to check anything?

I tested it with my GK 700RB against a GK 210RBH and 115RBH. I definitely like it ten times better than EITHER cab. However, I'm still a little "iffy" when compared to both cabs at once. The GK's together seemed a tad more efficient which is what I would expect...maybe 3db...just barely noticeable. I left all eq the same for all tests.

Then I ran it with an RBI and QSC RMX1850HD bridged. TOTALLY different sounds. I think I'm gonna order a QSC PLX1602 next week and concentrate on the RBI/QSC/1210 setup.

I need more time to fully run it through its paces but it looks promising.

I've been waiting for this comment. It's one thing to say "this is a great cab in it's own right" which I believe it is, but I'm always a bit suspicious of claims that a single cab can replace a multi-cab setup. I've been biting my tongue because Speddling seems to have pulled it off so I guess there are situations where this can happen, but it generally goes against the laws of physics.

I still wanna try one though :) And a big pat on the back for the good customer service!

Yeah, I felt a bit the same Pete.

Also, I owned one of the Tech 2x12s for a while and hated it. It was compact for a 2x12, yes. It also had, to my ears, a really honky low mid / upper bass sound. Almost exactly around the frequency range I'd expect the little cavity off to the left (that the side-facing 12 fires into) to resonate at. The gotcha is that mine also arrived improperly assembled - same with Phat Basstard's pair (from the same seller). Speakers wired wrong, clear tape covering the voice coil vents on the back of the magnets. It sounded *much* better after fixing these, but still really honky.

Anyway, Jorg's cabs look nice and I'm definitely curious.

Actually my first Tech cab was perfect, which is what made me get the second (improperly assembled) cab. Using the first cab as a guide I figured out what was wrong with my 2nd one (and yours;) ). I sold the second one, but have kept the original and replaced the high end driver and crossover with components I liked better and now use it by itself for low to medium volume gigs and on top of a 15 cab for higher volume gigs.

There is no doubt, after seeing the Schroeder website, that he has spent some time studying the Tech designs. I'm curious to try one of these 2x12 cabs side by side with my (modified) Tech 2x12.

Someone here on TB has a sig to the effect of "how do you know what sounds best to my ears" ;)

I ditched my massive rig 15 years ago and built the best pro mini for the time. My BagEnd S12 and S15 lacked the bottom of the 4x12 + 1x18 rig it replaced, it's usefullness to me and it's ability to cut through any situation I used it for (keep in mind I haven't played metal since circa 1987) far out weighed any fullness issues. Actually, because of my "unscooped" tone preference, just the S12 cranked was too much stage volume at times. To my ears, the 1210 is all that my mini stack was PLUS the added bottom like the big rig I left behind.

I think this A/B comparison probably will happen around 07-05.

I'm also planning to borrow the Schroeder 410 for a 4th of July private party gig my band is doing. So between the two opportunities to play through it again, I should get a better idea of which cab best matches my tastes.

I'm hoping to get to compare the 410 to the 1210 sometime next week.

It's a good time to be a bass player.

Mini review:

Here is what I emailed Jorg this morning:

went great! I'm not a drinker but I did last night, so I'm a little hung over...


It was amazing to have the volume and coverage this rig puts out. Great call on the Yamaha! Very full and round. The parametic is very usable & musical.

I think what I'm digging most is it's overall lack of Harshness... So many times large & loud rigs make me cringe. The 1210 with the Yamaha and Crown is just loud and smooth! It definately got "in your face" when I dug in but even though I was WAY loud, it never felt (or was said to be) overbearing 8-)

I got to hear it a little with someone else playing... but he was NOT a player and had never held a 6 let alone a fretless ;) That said, it sounded great in the audience

FYI it was a holiday BBQ with about 120 in attendence... an hour+ of my band then a bit of an open mic / karioke as the beers started setting in.
