I took my newer Schroeder 1210 and Acoustic Image Focus 600 to my band's (one of four I gig with regularly) "dress rehearsal" for a gig we have next Saturday...first time we've played together in 5 weeks I believe so this latest venture in GAS was not sprung upon them until I arrived at rehearsal.

While they were "enthralled" by the AI, it's little footprint, cuteness etc., the real star of the show was the Schroeder. I knew it, maybe they didn't, but I did. Yeah the AI is cute, lightweight, and the coolest running head I've ever seen, but the tone and volume is projected by the cabinet. This 1210 is voiced just perfectly for me. Decent lows...we tune down a 1/2 step so my 5'er is tuned to Bb, Eb, Ab etc....I ran the attentuation at 12:00 on the knob. Nice low mids with plenty of punch without the high mid honk. And great but not overbearing highs.

It was a deep, punchy, and clean slappy all at the same time. did I mention loud? Cripe...I can't believe how much clean volume get's projected outta this little cabinet. It seems to me and as Brad J always concludes his comments with..."as always, I could be wrong," but the 1210 is probably just as loud and maybe just a little less beefy sounding than my former fav cab, an Epifani 212T, rectangular, original shaped model. Of course new they're $450+ more than the Schroeder and about 12 pounds heavier...the new UL's that is. My Epi 212 weighed in around 78 pounds. It really kicked ass. My guess is that a 1212 Schroe could pretty much stand up one to one with the bigger Epi cab, but again for significantly less dough and weight.

So I sold my LDS 2x8 cabs to a local blues oldies type of player, nice guy, has an SWR SM400? head and a 63 P bass that these cabs are just "made" for and sold my sunn 1200 S to a friend who's with a Motown Review type of band.

In the meantime, although the 4 pound Focus remains the center of attention in my rig, the star is again the little Schroeder that said "I can kick ass" with the best of 'em.

Glad you're stoked on your new setup.
Congratulations.

1st gig with my new amp, with a new band: in a pub with less than stellar acoustic, this combo worked beautifully, pumping out deep lws, articulate mids and a sweet but clear top.
I only had to move the p.u. balance on my Fodera to achieve perfect tone from jazzy-bossa nova tunes to funkyer songs.
I even had to lighten my touch to allows bandmates to be heard, and they all commented about my tone...
Me too, I've never been able to hear myself with so much presence and power in the mix.
And the cab was raised on a stend to approx. 50cm height.
I cannot wait for the next gig...

I did a rather large wedding outside gig on Saturday with my "small rig", a Thunderfunk & 1212......sounded great & loud!
People thought I was running through the P.A.! This was the first time I ran just the 1212 with the angled speaker facing down outside, and it seemed to spread the bass around a little more, a pretty hard thing to get out of most cabs

thats kind of what i figured, though i have to say i dont really get that sifnature B-15N tone everyone thinks about when the think B-15, probably because its a '72 and not an early 60's one.

im playing mostly jazz with enough funk and R&B to make them weigh in my decision. i recently started playing with a small combo playing more R&B oriented jazz(not smooth jazz at all, yuck) id have to say im a HUGE fan of this guys tone

and i am able to get something very close to it with my own little flare. id call it punchy and slightly tube overdriven but still really warm with enough low end. ill probably start a new thread when i have played enough amps to need to make a decision. i just need to know if this cab will be able to support that kind of tone or if i should go with something more like a wizzy. i doubt ill spring a grand for just a cab alone with the ampeg... ever

if i ever have the means to, ill post some sound clips of me when i really get down to comeing close to buying something

speaking of which, can anyone get some clips of these(or direct me to any that have been posted withen this 75 page super thread)

Well, surely, a Schroeder cab would not make that guy play in tune! :D
But I'm sure you'll be able to get somewhere close to that with the 1210. But to get that sound I would depend more on my amp and bass...

I finally checked out the Schoeder 210 and 410 a couple weeks ago when I was cab shopping and was dually impressed. The highs were absolutely beautiful, and the price was quite reasonable as well when compared to botique cabs. In the end I ended up going with Aguilar due a couple hundred $$ difference, and the sound being *almost* as nice as the Schroeder. Good stuff.

Guiseppe...Sounds like your new Schroeder rocks pretty good! You've got a 5-string I think. How does it handle the lower notes, especially at volume? And any other further comments you may have...thanks.

One of our slower blues tunes is in B and I pretty much ride the root, almost like an organ. There wasn't anything resembling distortion/farting. Just fat, heart-arresting tone. I'm going to go out on the patio and have a beer, just thinking about that song makes me wanna Crank It!

By the way, after playing my Ken Smith Proto-J and hearing it "opened up", I'm really jazzed at the tone for $900. One man's Corsair might be another one's Cadillac, after all (but I still want a REAL Ken Smith)

exactly what i was thinking. im just looking for a cab thats going to sound good and support the sound that my amp and bass are sending it. i dont mean not coloring it at all or anything like that. but im not looking for the heart of the sound to come from the cab

i can get the a sound a really like without being plugged in at all (MIA jazz) and then my current amp is just iceing on the cake

ya know whats sad norwegianwood? that guys bass has fretlines :smug:

Back in August, when I ordered my 1210, we were gigging twice a month.

In the 3 months that it took for it to build and ship, we wound down for the year.

I have had this cab for almost 6 months, and not a single gig.:(

But that is changing! We have two gigs lined up for April and two for May. One small church, one medium sized club, and two outdoor festivals.

I can't wait to hear this thing in action! It sounds really great in rehearsal, but the gigs will tell the true tale of how great this cabinet is.

Congrats!

I just quit my band a couple weeks back (I got sick of treading water with a couple guys I had no fun and no jamming with)... but a few things are looking like they might pan out. If nothing else, I found a classic rock / blues thing that gets together every other week on a Sat night. Should be a hoot! I'm dragging my full rig out this Sat :bassist:

Hang on, isn't Aguilar stuff more than Schroeder? (Isn't good with prices because i'm from Aus and don't see much of the stuff ;) )

I'm not sure whether you were looking at the 1010 Schroe being a 2x10 equipvalent and we assume that it's the 410 that's eqiuvalent to a 4x10 Aggie when comparing pricing, yes? Maybe you were looking at the 21012 and 410 Schroeder and comparing it with the 2x10 and 4x10 aggie?

Maybe you can clairify for us recent die hard Schroeder fans. I'm also gonna say point blank that there is NO WAY that these cabs sound "alike". The Aggie 2x10, 112, and 410 have a big hole, at least from my ear's perspective in the low mids and mids. They're quite similar to Eden's 210 and 410 XLT's.

I owned a 210 XLT Eden and an Aggie GS112, and although the Aggie, 112 granted is $300 less than a Schroeder 1210 as an example, there is no comparison in the cab's cutting ability, volume, tone, etc. The 1210 is doable option for almost any gig I play. The Eden 210and the Aggie 112 wasn't close. These cabs have decent low end but that's about it. Fart out easily too.

Which aggie did you buy and whiich Schroeders did you compare them to? Again, to each his own...Schroeders are not "cheap"...but there's a lotta stuff out there at 1.5 to 2 times more that don't sound any better if as good as you get with a Schroeder IMHO.

I don't think you're gonna see anywhere near the overall oomph that your epi 410 has with a Schroeder 1210 alone. Yes it's lighter..yes it sounds maybe a bit more cutting, yes it's a lot less expensive than a new 410UL Epi, but I feel the Epi 410 is one that a Schroeder 1210 doesn't quite match up to volume wise or bottom end wise.

My best advise for your GAS Schroederwise...opinion not asked for..granted!!!, is that if you want a one cabinet replacement get the 21012 or the 410....they're both in the mid hi 70's poundwise and still much less than an Epifani NYC 410 or try a 1210 with one of the new 112 cabs or a second 1210 or 1212 with a head that can handle under 4 ohms and bring whatever combination best suits the gig...this way you're more portable and flexible than always shlepping a 410 around at a very similar total cost.

hollowman i live in hampton roads and run in to the exact same problems you have finding dealers for high end stuff arownd here. my advice would be to email schroeder and ask him, and then tell me what he tells you so i can have an idea

when i emailed Thunderfunk to find a dealer he said the closest one was 4 hours away :crying:. i want to play one sooo bad
