Second date

Other stuff we did/do for 'dates':

-Winery tours (not possible in some regions), brewery, distillery visits

-Staying in and cooking together. <-something we still do and love to do. Time in the kitchen is good time. Bring drinks.

If you like drinking together - winery, brewery, distillery tours are awesome. You learn something together and there are samples!

I like cooking together dates, too, but I tend to keep those until after the first month because I'm an introvert who likes my own space. It's a bit much to invite someone into my home really early on, but that's just me.

Something else to consider - Groupon. It's free to join, and you can get great ideas (and great deals) on stuff. One of my new favorite things is a BYOB painting class that I found on Groupon. Nationally, they have a franchise called Paint Nite (Invalid Link Removed), but there are others that are out there, too. Basically - an art studio signs people up to do an evening painting class. For your fee, you get the canvas and all the supplies to create a painting that you keep. It's about 2-3 hours depending on the painting, and an art instructor walks you through the steps to copy the painting being taught that night. You BYOB and snacks and you sit next to the person you're with. Depending on the studio, there's music (or sports - or both) and a lot of laughter. If you get a studio that offers a "date night" option, you each paint a separate painting and the two are intended to be hung together as a small collection (like a wine bottle pouring into a glass where the bottle is on one canvas and the glass is on the other).

Trevor? Which version did you watch?

It wasn't Taxi Driver. It was a cheap rip-off called "Cab Driver."

Instead of Travis Bickle, it had Trevor Fickle.

I always enjoyed his line, "some day a real rain is gonna fall, and wash all the chalk off of these streets."

In "Cab Driver," the pimp was played by Antonio Fargas. The Congressional campaign worker was played by Soupy Sales, and the Congressman was Peter Graves.

Perhaps a symposium analyzing symbolism contained within the works of some of the more popular Russian poets of the 19th century? Trediakovsky can be very stimulating, and I don't know I've ever discussed his work without it leading to my getting lucky.

Of course, if you wish to move a little more slowly, you may try Pasternak, but unless you look at the poems he wrote before the age of ten, I'm saying that technically, he doesn't qualify as a 19th Century poet at all.

You may have to do a little traveling to find such a symposium, but you can make it a fun road trip, and maybe look for some type of kitchy Americana on the way, such as a boat motor museum or lizard farm. It's good to let her know you're not all about snobby elitism, after all.

Bring some ham sandwiches, and home-made potato chips, and a gallon of red wine spiked with vodka. That has never failed me!

Just when I thought I was cooking up a good reply, then I read this. What I had in mind would only pale in comparison to this eloquent masterpiece.

Aquariums are awesome as are museums. The idea, for me, is that if a girl doesn't like it because she would have rather done something lame and typical like clubbing or seeing a movie on the 2nd date, I wouldn't have liked her much anyway.

Same for the outdoors stuff, although I personally feel that anything of the fishing/hiking/outdoorsy nature is a little bit farther down the line... being alone in the woods could be a little too much for the 2nd time out with a girl.

Amusement parks are awesome but that's easily $150 and you might want to consider the impression dropping that much so soon into the relationship would make. In fact, as someone else said before, I usually make a joke like "When are you gonna take ME out?" to gauge a girl's reaction on the whole money and partnership issue.

Just my $.02. Clearly she liked you enough for a second date so the hardest part is already over. Just don't "fudge" it up and you'll be okay.

Just make sure to invite her in on the action.

No no no. You have to make sure she knows to respect your boundaries. That she knows a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

The forced three-way with her best friend is more of a "celebrating Your firstborn child" type of thing. Unless of course Your firstborn is a son, then it's three-way with her sister time.

If you're really a player, you'll figure out a way to get your hot high school English teacher into the mix as well. Tell her you need help with your homework after class. :D:D

Second date with my GF was roller derby! Then pizza. Then coffee/wine and desert at local coffee place. Neither of us had ever seen roller derby and it was a blast, some stimulation and opportunities to talk. Over pizza I talked about a documentary I just watched on mountain top removal and won her heart. First date was a road trip to see Rush with 11th row seats!

I am always on the lookout for crazy stuff to do. Something that makes me stand out. Performance art, weird festivals, and even a Critical Mass ride.

Ha ha, like I said I was looking for more "logical and practical" second date ideas...although some great ideas if I actually did not like this girl enough past the first-second date. She is a smart gal and overall fun gal. I know it's early but I really want to play this one right. Although of course snow is coming this weekend (God forbid it come through the week once) we're going to play it by ear and worst case is we grab some food and a couple movies and cuddle up to my fireplace and go to the zoo and go karting some other time. Of course I have 4x4 on my truck but I hate ice.

So you've definitely ruled out Dirty Lixx at the Neon Armadillo? I can put you both on the guest list, and save you $10.00 in cover charges...
