Oh! Please explain what all is on that board?"Small" Doom board. Voodoo Lab Small Dingbat plus Wah and cables all fit into the VL Small EX gig bag perfectly.

Ampless rig for our next gig. We're down to one guitar player as the second winters in Florida, so I thought the Octabvre would be useful. Also the fuzz into the envelope is great for the couple of funky tunes we do.

Oh! Please explain what all is on that board?
Since I posted last time, everything's been replaced. I'm using this for a gig next month because I need those specific effects, then I'll probably swap them out for a decent compressor. Powered by a Cioks 4 underneath. No noise issues so far! I probably won't both tidying the cables any further until after the gig as well. This will be going direct to mixer/PA.View attachment 4934867
Haven't done much with it so far, but it works! Some of the reverb settings are really dirty, which doesn't bother me. Powering the board with a Cioks 4, and I'm not getting any noise from this combination of pedals. The Sonic Ambience is a gift if you want to pack a reverb and delay into a small space. During the gig I'll be getting down on the floor to tweak the settings during the setPlease do tell me about that Sonic Ambience.
It looks and sounds great for it's price! How is it on bass?
I'm on a hunt for some (preferably cheap) 'ambient' pedal...

Congrats, very well conceived and executed!
And thanks for the detailed description, good food for thoughts and inspiration.
If the box with the XLR connector between the wireless and the HXS is the one for your Synth output that you would like be a real DI, maybe a Radial Stage Bug could fit in that spot ?
Or a Lehle P-Split or P-ISO under the board connected between your HXS Send and your 1/4"->XLR converter, would maybe do the job ?
Regarding that Y splitter by JHS, I recall having read some months ago, on their website, that it is not recommended for bass, but I haven’t double checked before writing. Is it working well for you ?

Through some creative routing using the FX loops, a splitter and a 5-way patch bay, this board is set up for a multitude of different scenarios, all of which can be active at the same time.
I can run a synth and a bass through this at the same time, and send them to different outputs. I can also send my bass direct to the desk and to an amp at the same time. The desk gets a cab sim, the amp does not. I also have a dry output on the board, which send my unaffected bass signal straight through.
The board has two main inputs:
And it has six outputs:
- Wireless unit (for my bass), goes into a Y splitter (for the dry output) and then into the main input on the HX Stomp
- Synth input (through the patch bay), going into an FX return
To achieve this madness, the Photon is in an FX loop of the HX Stomp.
- Dry out, for an unaffected bass signal
Basically a clean DI, split off right after my wireless receiver- Amp out, for a wet bass signal with no cab simulation
Uses the right output of the Photon. The left output has cab sim applied and is sent back into the HX Stomp for use with the recording outputs (see 3 and 4)- Recording out R, and...
- Recording out L
These are used for recording or personal monitoring. They output both bass and synth, fully wet (cab sim and all), in stereo (when applicable). I use these and my dry out for recording at home, allowing me to capture both a clean DI and a fully wet signal at the same time. I can also plug a personal monitor into these outputs (either IEM or a wedge) if I need to hear myself.- Bass Direct out
This is the Photon DI output, and it outputs a cab sim bass signal for going direct- Synth direct out
This uses an FX send in the HX Stomp and gives me a direct output for the synth signal. It goes to an 1/4"->XLR converter. Ideally, it should have been an onboard DI box, but there's no room, so I'm either getting that from the sound guy, or I'll use my backup one in my bag.
The synth in&out is only active on certain select presets, where I've split off a dedicated synth effects path in the effects chain. In those presets, the bass is still processed separately and sent to its appropriate outputs, so that there's never a chance that the synth is sent through the dedicated bass outputs and vice versa. If I try to play the synth when any other preset is active, it will not be processed (which is essential). The last thing I want is to send the synth to my bass amp and/or to the bass channel in FoH just because I forgot to change presets before the song started.
All this is to say: My core bass tone is contained in the Photon, which frees up the HX Stomp to act entirely as a signal routing device and effects platform, either for my bass or my synth (or both at once).

Very Nice.. I am leaning towards the Ampeg version of the Bassrig myself. What is the bg gray box on the right?
What is that second pedal????
Here’s my biggest compact pedalboard I’ve ever pieced together. Jay Ganz Straight Ahead power amp with my Origin Effects SV. I’m really liking it so far. This into my Berg HDN210 or HDN410 and I think I’ll be set. Pedalboard is a Pedaltrain Metro 20.

Looks neat! Very interested to hear what you think of that Belle OD pedal, if you don't mind sharing? I'm gonna be in the market for a nano-sized boost/drive, and have had good experience with Wampler pedals back in my, uh, '6-string electric piccolo bass' days. Haha! I'm worried most of their stuff is too guitar-focused, but perhaps that's an overblown concern.
I love the Belle. Set at 18v, bass at 3, low gain sounds perfect. Sounds great even with higher gain.
