That's when you know you made the right decision.
Never say never ... I loved the RAs I had. All three were custom. I did agonize about selling the last Deep 4 because I love(d) the neck. It just wasn't working for me sonically anymore. It was my main bass for many years and it owed me nothing. I'm not the type to keep a bass "just because". It neeed to be played. I wasn't. So I moved it on.
I still love what Rob does. The basses all look great and you know a RA when you see it. Maybe I'll own another some day. Just not now.

I went that route years ago and my someday has come around. I had an MB-2, koa, with a Deep 5 neck, an option Rob offered for a short time in the '00s. Eventually sold it 10 years ago (anyone out there have #427?) and just recently purchased a used Mouse.
I'm wondering if anyone subscribed to this thread owns the MB-2 32" scale fretless that I custom ordered from Rob in 2012. Serial # is 1112. I sold it to @Koog, who sold it to @77stingray, then the trail goes cold. I'd be down to re-acquire it if possible. If not possible, I'd just like to know that it has a good home.

Sorry, mine was purchased from the TB classifieds (sorry I forgot from whom) but it's a 30" Mouse. In fact, I did! It was/is a great instrument and @David Morris - I would ALSO love to reacquire it!
Alas, I traded it to @cosmicevan for a 6-string, and he has gone Inactive on TalkBass.
He was a jazz performer with great feedback here and the 6-string was in excellent condition - I suspect he's taking good care of the mb-2 if he still has it!

I was able to contact Evan and as luck would have it, he still has the MB-2 and was already considering selling it. We are negotiating the terms and it looks like I will have it back in my hot little hands soon. Thanks @Koog, @77stingray, and @Jeff Elkins for helping me track it down!Ooh! I owned a Rob Allen MB-2 fretless, as my primary instrument, for about 15 years, then sold it around 2015 when my musical situation changed and I no longer needed a fretless (and couldn't afford to keep it and buy the fretted basses that the new gig required). I can't say I regretted selling it, but I have missed it.
So I'm thrilled to have recently acquired another fretless MB-2 from a fellow TB'er. The hiatus is over. I'm doing music now where it fits, and when I played it at rehearsal for the first time it was perfect for all the songs. Once more the RA will be my primary bass.

What wood is that top? The top is padauk, the body is mahogany, neck is walnut and fingerboard is ebony. It's a beautiful combination of woods.What wood is that top? It looks very rich and red in your photo.
would a 4 string mb-2 fretless with stock strings accommodate a standard d tuning across all the strings ok?
