Show Your Orange Basses!

I'd like to call one of these mine, but they've discontinued the color...guess I need to look for used, or new/old stock.

Here are my two. Not the best quality, but the one on the left is a 2002 and the one on the right is a 2003. I'm trying to find somebody wanting to swap the 2003 neck for a similar year rosewood. I liked the maple fretboard a lot more after I replaced the ugly pearloid pickguard with the cream one from the 2002. I call Creamsicle now. I just can't get used to maple fretboards.

Both of these were sold to me, used, as Candy Tangerine. The 2002 on the left has more red in it (but still noticeably orange), and more of a race car vibe. The 2003 on the right is distinctly more copper up close, but at a distance it's more orange.

The 2002 is set up much more to my liking so it currently plays better, but I'll have the 2003 set up once I find a rosewood fretboard. I'm also debating having the headstocks matched. I can't decide if it'll hurt resale too much, so I've debated doing some kind of decal that I could apply. Just thinking the sticking process may be just as damaging to undo as painting.

This is the definition of an orange bass. I was at Pat Wilkins's shop last week, and I took my pink JO5 up there to show him the finished product. Markus's orange JO4 was the first thing he mentioned in the ensuing conversation. He's really proud of that one.

That's cool! Boy...Pat's work really is spectacular! He is absolutely the best guy to deal with. My jaw just dropped when I opened the case. He is a real artist.
