Joe was definitely one of those artists who I didn't really appreciate until I was older. R.I.P. Joe.

Patiently Waiting For The Next British Invasion
All of the people I really admire are starting to die that's the biggest cost of getting old.
Can't say I know too much of his catalog past a few of his hits, but damn, I always thought his part in the Woodstock movie was among (if not the most) powerful and electric performances of the entire movie. And that is saying ALOT.

I admit it: I fail.
that is some great, if late-in-life, stuff. "You Can Leave Your Hat On" is Randy Newman at his best - could be the funniest song ever written, but it sure rocks the way Joe delivers it! Great coverer of tunes, and certainly an original.

Years ago drove by a sign promoting his concert with SRV in Anchorage.
Thought to myself I'd wait to see him later in Fairbanks.
SRV came up and played. Joe didn't come up.
Regret not jumping on the chance to see him.
So glad I saw SRV. He died a couple months later.

Another great goes to the Big Gig in the Sky. Seems like a lot of that has happened this year. RIP Joe.
Well Heaven's Supergroup just found a new singer. We have Kieth Moon and Bonham switching off on the drums, Hendrix on the guitar, Richard Wright on keys, Entwistle on bass switching off with Jack Bruce (also on vocals), and now Joe Cocker vocals/keys.
Saw him with the Grease Band at the Kinetic Playground in Chicago in May '69 (along with the Who and Buddy Rich..2 sets each, $5), then again less than a year later with Mad Dogs/Leon Russell. IMNSHO, the Grease Band was a lot better match..funkier, ..umm greasier...and he fit in a lot better. He really struggled in public with his life, but man, he had SOUL.and he outlasted that guy who made a bucket of cash mocking him....RIP soulman, thanks for all the great music.
