Single Malt Scotch!

I typically drink Glenlivet Founder's Reserve, but bought a 750 of Glenlivet 15 year Single yesterday. It's a lot better, but as many years i've had Scotch (very off and on) - I don't really know what a great Scotch is at the different price points.

All I know is due to convenience, I over paid for yesterdays bottle. By a lot. :/

Sorry. Did the taste disappoint, or just the price?

That 12 was great, for sure...

It's among the bottles that I keep replacing when they run out. Too good to do without.

Taste is great, the price wasn't. I overpaid about $25 bucks. Convenience fee I suppose.

Some irish stuff i have been digging lately if anyone cares...Jameson Black Barrel, Powers, Tulamore Dew Rum Cask, The Irishman, Teelings and Knappogue Castle 12 year.

I do care!, and I agree at least in re Knappogue. An Irish I'm recently liking is Quiet Man.

I just got a proper tasting glass set for Christmas. Gonna have to take the Tullamore off my list, the nose is kind of atrocious in these proper glasses. Gonna have to revisit some bottles, lol.

The start of Japanese whiskies was back in the 1920's when they sent a guy to Scotland to learn how to make the stuff and there were some early bottles labeled as scotch until they got a cease and desist notice.

Hibiki is really great stuff and if you ever get the chance at their 17, 21 and 30, don't pass it up.

Japanese whisky is, so far as I can tell, almost universally exquisite. Like everything they do, they do it with passion and the desire to create the best product.

I have a new everyday option to select. The Ardberg "Wee Beastie". It's more peppery than smokey, but it's still a peaty-smokey dram and with a pepper aftertaste. It's gotten mixed reviews but it's got more going on than Laphroig Select and for around $40 US it's a deal.
