I've just posted "GMC - Jabbafunk" on the Community cloud for the C4. It gets fairly close to your video clip on my rig / Musicman bass. Control 1 is the Filter frequency and Control 2 is the Envelope Speed. You'll need to dial those in for your bass. I'm sure another 1/2 hr or so of tweaking and this could be made spot on for your bass. There's nothing here that can't be ported over to the Spectrum.

Thank you so much! I tried tweaking it for few minutes now and can see I am getting towards the right sound! I have a jazz bass so I guess it sounds a bit different but I'm getting there. I can't thank you enough, I wouldn't know where to start with this.

Do you know which setting to adjust for faster oscillation? I suppose it's something under Envelope 1 settings. (At least I think that's what I need - basically to go from that subby sound to higher note sounding sound faster)

I'd like to try adding a distorted octave up capability to my signal chain to fill in when our guitarist takes a lead line or solo. For the time being I want to keep it simple and use the C4 to do this and use an expression pedal to control the level of the octave up signal. I can either a) do octave and distortion in the C4, b) have the C4 do the octave up and then have dirt pedal within the C4 loop, or c) send the dry signal thru the loop to my sub'n'up and dirt pedal (only using the C4 for blending the signal). I think each can be done in the editor and I found some old patches by @Quatschmacher and Nathan Navarro that I can start with.

My question for the thread: are there any pitfalls or serious limitations with any of these approaches, or has anyone tried them and has tips/recommendations or a patch to use? I know I could also split the signal to different amps or guitar cab sim to PA, but I want to try it first with the equipment I have (C4, sub'n'up, dirt pedals, SA dual exp pedal)

I had a "fake guitar" setup (pre-C4) where I could switch from a single bass amp setup, to one using bass and guitar amps. The difference was huge. But live without PA support, it was surprisingly hard to set my volumes to work with the band (two amps, each in a different frequency range, each reacting to the room in different ways). If you have a sound person to control the FOH volume and eq for each amp, it would probably be great.

It’s done using MIDI CC commands so absolutely requires a controller of some sort. You could use a smartphone to do it with TouchOSC or MidiPad or other similar app to achieve it.

Expression control settings (called “External Control Settings”) are per preset, so totally possible

Yes. Furthermore, you could have both possibilities in a single patch - you could either assign envelope depth to one of the control knobs and turn it to zero when not needed. Alternatively, if bending down isn’t an option, you could set up an envelope kill switch via the MIDI map to activate from your controller.

I was in a long search for a moog bass sound (think: Thriller / Chameleon). After trying some cheap pedals (mostly Bosses) I decided to bite the bullet and got myself a C4 synth pedal.

After fiddling a little with community presets I Found 2 sounds which are perfect for the sound I was looking for: 24K preset (inspired by the Bruno mars song) and well... Moog bass.

It's exactly the sound I wanted, It's perfect. I'm amazed by the tracking. The pedal complements my micro pedalboard along with the HX Stomp and I'm pretty much set with the pedals with those two.

Amazing job, Source Audio I'll probably never take the pedal out of my chain ever. Unless you decide to make like C4 pro or something like that :)))

So, this morning at rehearsal the footswitch (*I think*) died on me. The unit was on (green light) but it would not turn off when using the switch. I removed power from the pedal and then plugged it back in. From this point the pedal would not turn on via the footswitch. When I pushed the control button up top that green light flashed, so the unit is getting power. I also tested the power on a different pedal with no problems.

Also, now when I click the footswitch there is no *click*. It feels like a soft-style switch.

Didn't someone recently on this thread have a footswitch failure on the C4? Trying to remember. Are you familiar with this @rsmith601 ?

The footswitches are very reliable, but we do change one every once in a while. Send a note to [email protected] so they can check to see if it needs work.
