That’s exactly what I was using (but upgraded to MC8 when it came out).

@Quatschmacher, have you messed with different expression pedals at all, and what are you currently using? Happen to have any experience with the Dunlop Mini Vol X? I've currently got one plugged into my HXFX, have been meaning to switch it over to the Hub so I can give it a try with the C4/Spectrum.

(apologies to all if I've missed expression pedal discussion somewhere in the thread!)

You won’t need to use the hub’s expression input if using the MC6). Just connect the C4 to the Hub via TRRS and plug your expression pedal into one of the two MC6 ports. Make sure an expression message in the MC6 is set to send CC100 at 0 to 127 on each bank that you use for the C4.

I’m using a Moog EP3 but plan on getting a mini Dunlop) which ought to work just fine.

The MC6 with the C4 is ridiculously powerful. You can control almost anything on the C4 directly from the MC6 if you set it up.

It is for now, especially if you already have one hooked up to your ES-8.

A v2 with a DIN port would be sweet though.

Yarp, however unlike the other one series pedals like the Aftershock...you can use the hub to access the 128 on board patches and not bother with the hub's scenes. The Aftershock has only 6 presets accessible via the three way toggle on the front of the unit, the C4 has the initial 6 and a further 122 available via midi / hub, which is a very nice feature. But I am with you there...it would be great if the C4 had midi ports. My hub and Aftershock are set to Midi ch 1. however, my C4 is set to midi ch 7 and the hub routes the midi to the C4....which you probably already knew

You can get a Hub, a DMC Micro.Ghost to interface the C4 with your Boss, or a Gen 3 DMC MIDI Controller (which all have built-in USB MIDI Host capabilities)

A TRS flat patch cable like the ones EBS makes? :thumbsup: If you wanna get a year of followup calls about it, I think Sweetwater's got em still.

I accidentally ordered a handful of long TRS patch cables that I ended up having perfect use for when I got a dual-output Mission Engineering expression pedal with a gift cert. They're pretty sweet for tight spaces on my board!

Do you mean that you can connect the micro.ghost's USB port to the computer and use the Neuro editor while the C4 is plugged into the micro.ghost's USB host port? It doesn't seem like you can do that.

I'm looking for a solution that would allow the USB port on the C4 to be connected to a controller and a computer without having to unplug anything from the C4. I was wondering if anyone had used a USB switch to connect a controller and computer to the C4. Are people with USB-based controllers just swapping USB cables when they use the editor?

I am! USB hubs have always proven more trouble than they're worth, and at any rate, with the noise loop I get when connected to the PC, I'm unplugging it as soon as I'm done editing. One minor extra step to plug the DMC back in.

There might be a switcher out there if you're really averse to yanking cables. If there's one that fully breaks the ground loop, I'd be fine with using that myself.

Whipped out my trusty '82 Bullet Deluxe guitar to do some funk comping, and happened to have an envelope filter with a degree of pitch follow onboard the C4. With a little volume tuning on the guitar, it adapted the filter quite tastily, and having the hardwired Mix control let me put a little muted chica-chica thru for some extra stank.

I'd almost forgotten the C4 is also a guitar-friendly pedal haha

I also did some quick bass reference tracking with another, which I came back and redid with a Korg Minilogue. That was mainly for MIDI note control since it was an uptempo hip-hop dance thing. The recorded tone with the C4 impressed me all over again after getting used to it thru bass amps, let me say; it's a powerful argument in favor of bi-amping to get the most of that full, clear high range. (or in my case, hitting the range switch on my Hathor 1203)

Comp first allows me to still keep a fair amount of dynamics (by running just light compression) while also balancing levels between basses before the C4 since it doesn't have an overall input control. You can control input per patch, but I'd rather not have to edit each individual patch every time I switch basses. Compressor first is doing the trick so far.
