Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

Follow up question on this: what are the other effect options on the Vertigo? Do you get the other Orbital effects or are the various tremolo options THAT DEEP?
There are like 10 different tremolo effects beyond the 3 that are on the switch. Eventually there will be an editor for creating new ones like we are doing with the Nemesis. You also get all the waveshape control stuff for the tremolo that is not on the orbital.

with the knobs moving, I thought the soundblox series kinda solved that with having 2 presets??
Yeah but... after you have it for a while, 2 presets just doesn't seem enough for everything you want to do with it :P

after looking at measurements for everything I want(polytune, SA eq, cali76, manta, OFD, orbital and dimension reverb) to a PT Jr., everything would actually fit ( 1 inch space on bottom, 2 1/4 on top row) if I omit the expression pedal and hub(well the hub might fit, but no midi thing:()...
Aaaaaand, you'd probably want the MIDI thing to have more presets :P

I might actually prefer this to the PT2 as it'll discourage me from buying more pedals, at the moment in looking into getting a verellen meatsmoke so that'll probably be my main overdrive and i might use the OFD as my distortion and fuzz(with the el raton and big muff settings)....
Actually considering that the Aftershock supports stereo and apparently you'll be able to send output 1 to input 2, I expect you would probably be able to use the Aftershock as both your overdrive AND distortion/fuzz stacked up. @rsmith601 can probably confirm this. I'm not really utilizing the morph on my OFD, I'd probably want to replace it with an Aftershock to save space.

So the hub might be unnecessary for me, even though its pretty awesome with all it's potential, I'm terrible with computers more than i care to admit...
While I love using it with computers, you don't actually need a computer to create, save and load scenes - you can just tweak manually on the board and save. The laptop connectivity just makes it easier to see everything (in my opinion), and allows you to send/receive scenes from other people. Oh and some other loopholes are only available on computer, but you might not even need that.

Okay, 2 quick questions... I can't tell from the demos, but can the manta do the same cleaner envelope sounds as the BEF??
Do you mean cleaner as in without distortion? If so, then just turn the distortion gain to zero.

Also I'm kinda having difficulty deciding between the OFD and the classic distortion as they are mostly the same from what I've read...
Hub + midi = more presets. You can't access all 6 at the same time instantaneously anyway (they're distributed into banks)...

I also changed my mind about the multi-wave, that thing could easily replace my EH bass micro-synth, so I'm probably gonna go with the pt2 or a newer design...
It's definitely a very synthy sound and that's what I love about it. But I wouldn't be sure whether it duplicates the exact same sound. I'm not so familiar with the microsynth. What I really like best about it though is that while a lot of synth engines track your note and uses that tracking to make synth sounds, the multiwave creates the synth sound directly from your note via various distortions and other processes, so there's no tracking or glitching issues and it handles more or less anything you throw at it. Sounds more organic too IMO, I like how the texture is very sensitive to dynamics.

2) The One Series supports stereo processing and ten options for using the 4 i/o jacks for routing (also accessed via the phone app). We have been working on this aspect of the pedals this week, and it is a bit mind-blowing.
Do all the routing combinations apply to all the pedals in the One Series? For example, if I have a Lunar Phaser, can I run output 1 into input 2 to create a chorus sound with a phaser over it? That would be badass.

4) The One Series will have an optional/configurable "brick wall" high-pass filter (e.g. 30hz) to eliminate unwanted speaker cone excursion (johnk's idea!) via the phone app.
Whoa awesome! I've been using a parametric EQ to do something like that manually, this would be useful. Would it be possible to adjust the exact frequency of the high pass brick wall?

With that said, you get 2 easily accessed presets on the Orbital and all the controls are right there on top, with no need of the phone app. Also, you can get the Orbital now. We will start shipping the first One Series pedals in about 3 weeks, but supplies are going to be limited for a while.
Gotta go ask my local retailers when they'll bring it in!

It is possible to stack the distortions. So in one Aftershock you could have a tube drive followed by a fuzz, and no extra cables at all, just in and out. The modulators are not stackable just yet. Maybe one day. Soon we will have a video showing the routing options. It is a really cool thing.

you pick it: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60Hz. being good at digital filters is very handy at times :)

Holy sh*t. Good thing this wasn't ready when I had the pedals because I think they would've gotten "lost in the mail" ;)
Me being last on the list doesn't add any help resisting that temptation.

@rsmith601 'waves hand' this is not the beta tester you are looking for....

I guess that's probably because the modulators need more processing power? I lost track of the discussion, for the modulators can you run different effects through each of the stereo channels? That would actually be good enough already.

The low cut sounds useful. I'd probably put it around 20 since an open Ab would be at 26Hz.
... I don't suppose it could be parametric instead of a handful of fixed frequencies?

By the way there seems to be more and more options that keep being revealed - by now I'm really certain the One series isn't just the SB2 series with a 'traditionalist' casing, it looks like it's going to have way more features. That's really exciting. When you guys release it, I hope there's a detailed comparison of new features (and removed features) compared to any corresponding SB2 pedals!

wow, thanks for all that info!! I guess I'll try to keep an open mind about the whole hub thing...the main reasons for my reluctance are I've never used any midi system and I'm trying to simplify my setup(I wanna try to avoid more rabbit holes), but I'll keep an open mind, maybe I can find a midi system for cheap??

I don't see myself needing too many different combinations of sounds, like maybe 4 different dirt sound at most...pretty much if the OFD or Classic Distortion can mimic what I already have ,I'm good...

You are really making me question my decision to stick with the MWBD and I do not have ANY space left on my board... I'll just wait for the Solemate and the grab the Aftershock also.

Well that escalated quickly. 2 pedals in one? Plus the ability to route and blend. I gotta get one now. Never thought I'd want to part with my OFD....

I agree with 4 exceptions:

1) The One Series has a flexible 4 band parametric EQ that can be accessed via the phone app
2) The One Series supports stereo processing and ten options for using the 4 i/o jacks for routing (also accessed via the phone app). We have been working on this aspect of the pedals this week, and it is a bit mind-blowing.
3) The Vertigo goes WAY beyond the Tremolo in the Orbital.

While it is nice that many of these parameters can be accessed/edited by the phone app, it could be more helpful or useful for some of us to edit via the hub. Especially if we have multiple SB2/1series pedals connected to the hub and considering the connection for the phone app is a side jack that may or may not be convenient to access on a crowded pedalboard. Will this be possible or is it just limited to phone app access?

Oh man, so much this.

Yes, this is no problem. The One Series pedals will show up on the Hub Manager Software and act in the same manner as a SB2 pedal. All the phone app parameters will be right there. If you want to go to the "deep" level editor on the One Series, then USB will be required.

This is the routing configuration menu for the One Series pedals:
(as noted, cascade does not work for all pedals yet)
(kind of cool)
