Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

If you don't already have a MIDI Controller I have a Disaster Area Designs DMC GEN3 that works and does more than I am capable of making it do. The point being that I am MIDI ignorant and if I can get it to work it would be very easy for someone that has a clue to get it fully functioning . And it is built like a tank

All this talk about these DA controllers makes me want one. I need to hook my stuff up to the HX and see where I'm at first. Don't' think I'll need anything from DA…..yet….. here we go again! Haha


I will however keep buying and using DA's solderless patches. Those are simply the best patches I've ever used! Love em.

Y'all really aren't making it easy for those of us who want to wait for the Future Impact update before taking the plunge. Owners of both, how would you compare making new patches from the C4 vs the FI? I'm a synth novice as far as understanding and am trying to learn more to be more deliberate in the tweaks I make...and these days I'm having issues connecting the FI to the editor over MIDI so curious from the patch building side fo the fence, is the C4 just as annoying to make patches w computer attaching or the phone connection makes it less painful?

I'm pretty sure that preset maker who goes by the name Thehook made a great preset that comes close/is comparable to that sound.

I took a crack at it last week. Haven't had a moment to upload it to the preset community though. I wouldn't say I "nailed" it, but it's passable, IMO. Have a listen here.

I don't want to lie, but dude, you could most likely get the sound you're looking for in the C4 no matter what. Whether it's a community preset or a factory preset or one that you dig into the Editor to make. But it's in there. I can almost guarantee that.

Question regarding this....when you mention HPF are you speaking about settings on the C4, or your external HPF?

I have noticed that most community presets send my signal through the roof with bone rattling sub lows and major output volume. I've learned to tame the inputs and output volume, but still don't full understand where I can shape the amount of lows coming from the settings in the presets.

Anyone with suggestions? Still a lot of learning to be had with this thing :)

Have you adjusted the bass tone control in the top row? Also, working with the frequency settings in the filters will probably get you where you want to go.

I hear that as well. Between the Aftershock now and the C4, the amount of HPF and LPF options possible now is just plain awesome. These are features that are highly usable and useful for bassists especially. But they are also things that I know I need to mess with and learn to utilize properly and to their fullest extent. It'll take some time. I'm still sorta boggled by the midi and HUB stuff I started digging into last night. So it's gonna take some time for me. But I know I'll get there because all these new toys are things I just can't stop playing with! haha And the weekend is almost here too :D I know what I'm doing. Lots and lots of menu diving and midi learning. Can't wait!

I have not and now that you mentioned both those suggestions, its pretty obvious, haha

Unfortunately I have not had a lot of time to just sit and play around with the pedal and settings. I would really love a day or two with no obligations but playing with my C4...soon!

I think there should be some sort of regulation in the Neuro community presets that keeps the top row of your Neuro presets untouched even when you burn a preset in.

Most of the time I have to readjust Input gain and Master Volume as it is anyway.
I hate testing a preset and the filter doesn't open to my attack or is a massive "WWOOOOMPHHHHH" compared to my volume.

When I am testing presets I always back down the volume and tread lightly, I actually created a patch on my Zoom MS60 just for testing presets to protect my speakers and ears (after nearly bouncing them off the table).

I was thinking about this myself.

Often I try a community preset and make all kinds of adjustments in my excitement, only to burn it onto my pedal and have it revert back to the "default" on the preset and get blasted by volume spikes (or hear nothing at all)

I've learned that if I'm going to use or adjust a community preset, to burn it right away and start adjusting straight from my device before I get too deep...
