I intermittently have the same issue with the presets flashing up then disappearing. No rhyme or reason as to why. I hope someone has a solution!
Yes. I thought about that, but I do have connectivity with the C4, and my Spectrum and Aftershock work just fine with the same hub.
I've had the same issue whether going through my usb hub or directly into the laptop. Most often with the Neuro hub, but also when plugged directly into one of my pedals (C4, EQ2, Aftershock, Atlas).
I doubt this is anything to do with it but: there isn’t some sort of USB power saving thing happening on the laptop is there?
And slightly off the current topic but another shout for the Aftershock and C4 and Mercury live with a good MIDI controller. Last night’s gig had room for a few choice effects.
Some nasty fast filtery synth from the C4 layered with fuzz from the AS for the break in Substitute/Who.
A spaceship sized 12 stage phaser for the bit where White Wedding hangs on the B.
Some hilariously, hilariously juicy and utterly perfect in every way tube drive from the AS. For best results feed it with 1mm+ pick heavy on the downstrokes, through 2x humbucker. I’m vaguely aware that other pickup configurations exist but fail to understand why.
Lovely Quad Chorus from the Mercury for all sorts of bits. Lovely thickener for solos where guitarist count = 1.
Recreating the synth from Dakota/Stereophonics for the Intro on the C4.
They’re so damn musical and useful. Morningstar MC6 for control is the icing on top. Good work, Source Audio.

I don't think so. Doesn't seem to make a difference whether running on battery or plugged in.
No, figured probs not. Clutching at straws here but: try different USB cables? Uninstall / reinstall windows usb devices in Device Manager? Not a hope, I know!
Am I correct that I read somewhere that this unit is going to be self powered?
I purchased a separate MIDI host already so I could use my MIDI controller with my C4, but if this new Source Audio adapter doesn't need to be powered from a power supply I'd definitely make the swap.
I believe it's supposed to be powered by the MIDI input, so as long as you are using a powered output from whatever device you are sending MIDI from you should be good.

Powered output from MIDI is pretty hit-and-miss between devices. Even Source Audio's own Reflex doesn't do it (at least it didn't work when I tried --- I can't rule out some other issue).
Source Audio's reply above says it doesn't need any external power, so I'd think that rules out power by a separate MIDI device. It probably draws the necessary juice from the USB port on the C4. At least that's what I'm hoping...
I don’t think it plugs into the USB port though, it plugs into the TRRS port. If that is powered, then great!

The new adapter connects to the control input and draws its power from there (just like the hot hand does for those familiar with that).
That’s great! Probably asking for too much… but does it also provide power to the MIDI output on the adapter? It would be amazing if it could power a CME WIDI device.

Not sure, if it does it would only be 3.3v I know we’ve talked internally about allowing for phantom power, but this is really first new product since those discussions to where we could technically make the change, but given that it’s being powered by the host device, and not from the midi spec, I’m thinking not, especially given the form factor of the adapter probably only allows for the components needed for midi control of the small one series pedals.
Oh man... you SA guys are geniuses. I just finally got the hang of the mono-stereo-mono routing on the Ultrawave. THIS IS IT. So much better for mixing a clean tone into the distortion as opposed to just using the mix knob on the channel(s). This changes a ton of things for me, I can see this pedal going into so many more situations now. Yessssss...... this is a great way to "tame" some of the awesomeness if you aren't prepared to deal with 2 channels of freaky freaky. This method lets you focus on one dirt channel and understand how it all works without losing your fat bass tone. Bravo.

Are you saying you run clean and drive in parallel and mix their output volumes?
Yep - thats probably the short way of putting it. I was searching for more UW tips and found that. I adjusted each channel separately and then used the balance knob to fine tune between them.
