even with lightning to usb the vol needs to be all the way up?

...I asked Matthews Effects twice about the "midi host" thingy and never heard back either time on the FUTURIST...

I guess it will NOT operate everything MIDI as it advertised? I can only assume this is the case and MATTHEWS EFFECTS is not to responsive to inquiry and prefer you just refer to advertising. .??

I experienced the issue myself and that was what fixed it for me. Whether it is actually audio or not, I believe the volume plays a role in the signal strength of the communication from you phone to the pedal. Hope it helps- good luck to ya

Good to know! I would not have thought that vol mattered with lightning but maybe I'm worng!

should I be able to connect my phone directly via the usb cable? I have one of those usb camera to lightening adapters. When I go from my phone to usb, I’m not able to make changes via the app. Is that right?

also, if I go lightning to 1/4 adapter to the 2nd i out with a regular patch cable I’m not getting anything. Do I need the special $12 SA cable?

USB is the best way to go. Bi-directional communication. That is not the case with the audio jack solution.

I just went to try out my C4 with my iPhone and realized it wasn't working with the Camera Adaptor anymore as it should (I usually have just used the headphone out method when doing stuff on the fly and do most of the heavy editing on the desktop app). Turned out I needed a C4 firmware update, and the only way to get the most current firmware update is via the most current Neuro Desktop App version (version 0.8.60)- the new pedal updates are built-in to the new versions of the app rather than accessing them via internet connection (or so it seems). Getting the newest Neuro Desktop app required downloading it directly from the Source Audio website (the app doesn't auto-update). So new Neuro Desktop, then new C4 update, then make sure your Neuro Mobile app is the newest version and you should be golden- took me only a few minutes to get everything updated again and working once I realized I didn't have the latest Neuro Desktop version. When you plug in the C4 via Camera Adaptor with the app open you should see a little "MIDI" icon that goes over the C4 icon in the top right corner of the app once you've selected the C4

Can't recall, but the newest desktop version is 0.8.60 and should allow you to update your C4 to its newest firmware as well so that it is compatible with the newest mobile app, etc. I assume because this 2-way thing is so new that there have been a few important fixes made since implementation that I missed since I don't regularly use it. If you haven't updated your Neuro Desktop recently this is probably your issue too

Now, that is helpful. I only had 8.5 on my desktop. Just downloaded 8.6 and installed it. Unfortunately, headed out on a trip in the AM and may not be able to update my C4 and play with it till tues. But this is the missing piece. Thank you!

I hope that does it- mine was older than that though, so your issue might be something else unless that last update was a particularly important one!

So I have my C4 and I have a wee Adafruit midi preset switcher I built...

How do people approach storing presets? I'm thinking it would make sense to have them in blocks or something... so different variants of octaves, followed by filters, followed by .... and so on?

It's super exciting, I've not really played with it much since I got it, but the preset switchers really opens it up to play with - the problem will be switching the USB cables for one to connect to the PC in a fairly tight pedal board setup!

I don't think you can store banks of sounds just a preset list...
