I haven't had the problem on my current PC. On a previous PC, I was running into all sorts of USB connectivity issues and the problem ended up being accumulated dust in the ports of the cables and sockets. I recommend spending a bit for a few sets of dust plugs for empty sockets on any equipment (amps, pedals, PC, interfaces, rackmount mixers...you name it) and keep them in place when not in use. Blow out the cable ends periodically as well. Mebbe this helps, mebbe not, but it alleviated some headaches for me, a guy who moved into a relative's extraordinarily dusty house and found out the hard way.

I'm not having dropouts, but I do have the hub with 4 pedals connected. The Ultrawave can't be edited via the hub so I connect it via USB and is shows separate in the editor. I have the hub, Ultrawave and Soleman connected via a small USB hub.

My Aftershock, Gemini, and C4 all editing controls show. I'm pretty sure. The Ultrawave through the hub only shows the master control block. With USB all controls show. I asked a while back "on here" as to why the Ultrawave full control panel didn't show through the hub and Roger chimed in and stated that the Ultrawave packed to much info for the hub to process. But patches can be saved in scenes.

I've got a tough one for any troubleshooting gurus on here (or hopefully the SA folks will weigh in). On my board I've got 5 SA pedals (Atlas, C4, Aftershock, Gemini, EQ2) and a neuro hub (as well as a kliq tuner and a midi mouse). I have been using a cheap Amazon power supply (Caline CP-202) without issue. A couple of weeks ago, when I added the Gemini to my board, I started getting some horrible noise issues. A ringing sound that the noise filter could take care of, but as soon as i start playing it is very pronounced and annoying.

So my initial thought is the power supply. I drop the cash and test with a good quality isolated supply (1-Spot CS7) without changing anything else, no change. So now I've completely torn my board apart and have been stepping slowly through troubleshooting. Here is what I've found:

1. The EQ2 seemed to be having a problem with the cheap power supply. I started adding pedals and as soon as i got the EQ2 in place, the ringing noise came back. At this point, I have not added the hub or midi mouse back in. So, I swap in the CS-7, and the noise goes away. Eureka! I think that the issue is the cheap power supply not providing current to EQ2 (and I don't think it's actually isolated, despite what they've screen printed on it). but....

2. Before rebuilding my board, I want to make sure that everything still works once adding the neuro hub and midi mouse back in. Once i plug the neuro hub in with a trrs cable to each pedal, the noise is back! Now I'm annoyed, as this is with the new power supply. So more troubleshooting, and I find that when I unplug the trrs cable from the EQ2, the ringing instantly stops. This does not happen when unplugging it from any of the other pedals. I did test a different cable and a different output on the hub with the EQ2, and still, the ringing is back as soon as I plug in the trrs. Note that i also tested with the EQ2 plugged into the original SA power supply, just in case.

So at this point, I'm reasonably confident that I had a power supply issue, but there still is an issue with either the neuro hub or the EQ2. Any ideas?

Hi all Source Audio Sourcerers! I must confess, I’m a midiot, and i hope you could help me out. I have a Disaster Area DMC Micro pro and a UltraWave. Can i use a simple midi to trs cable, like the Boss BMIDI-1-35 to pair them together? I use the included cable right now, 1/4 to 1/8 through the Multi Jack but it’s a bit bulky and i would like a slimmer solution.

Question about the C4 and Spectrum factory presets on the app. They should burn over no problem, right? Last night I was using the app to test things out and when I’d press a spectrum sound, it wouldn’t play on my C4. If I pressed a C4 setting I was able to demo it, but not spectrum. And i doing something wrong?

Off the top of my head, I think there’s an issue if you try loading directly from Spectrum’s presets. The way around it is to search for C4 presets and then use the “include compatible presets” tickbox to bring up the relevant Spectrum patches. So basically, search from within the C4 browser rather than from within the Spectrum browser.

Maybe there’s something to this… I was going through the C4 “channel” on the iPhone app, but maybe still wasn’t doing it quite right.

Sorry for all the questions! I just gave up on my spectrum at the end and realize now that if I'd just asked more questions here, I might have felt like I had more control and would have stuck it out.

One more: With the Neuro Desktop editor, how do you demo sounds? With the iphone app, you just engage a setting and then you are able to play it. How do you do the same thing on your desktop if I'm fiddling with settings or want to try new sounds?

I'm guessing I could go bass>C4>USB to computer>??? then where does it go? Do I need to route it through garageband and then back to the out on my scarlett?

The editor doesn’t produce sound by itself. You need to have the pedal connected via USB to your computer. Then you simply click on a preset title in the right-hand pane to load it into the pedal’s edit buffer. Adjust the input gain and output volume to your usual settings before playing a note if you don’t want to potentially ruin your ears.

Okay, so if I'm checking it out on my desktop, I need to physically use a 1/4" cable to go "out" from the pedal into my scarlett and listen from there? Or can I go digitally out from the pedal via the USB connection to garageband?

The C4 isn’t a USB audio interface, so you need to use the 1/4” audio ins and outs

Probably been asked before but is there any difference between the Aftershock (£189) and Kingmaker (£142)?

Looks like the only difference is control labels and colour?
Still has all the same distortion options and can easily overwrite the default switch presets?

Just want a quick sanity check before ordering the cheaper purple version.
