Clearly I've blown everyone's mind.

No, I almosted posted, but I've really been trying to "cut-down". I'm pretty passionate about the SA pedals and started wondering if I'm blabbing on too much. But I have found this thread to be extremely informative and feel like as minor as some things like 90 degree connector ends may be, someone might find it helpful.

Back to your presets. This is basically how I had mine (by the Classic Pro) setup before going midi. The morphing expression pedal arrangement is very fun and is the best way to get to the second bank (that bank button is not foot-friendly). Now if you go to the midi side, you can have contol over the drives, eq and other fun things that you can actaully do with a morph.

BEF Pro CC #24 - well, I'm not really sure what I have. I didn't have much time to fully experiment, but I think it worked, but only gave me the first 4-5 of the XC backpage options. And honestly, anything over 5 is too wacky for what I am doing currently. BUT, I would like those options opened up if possible. I may need to send my BEF Pro in for service anyway and have is firmware updated at the same time. The problem I'm having is that every 4th of 5th power up, the pedal doesn't work, it actaully cuts the signal or makes it highly distorted and cut. Cycling the power always brings it back. I am using the provided power supply and have tried swapping power supplied with my Classic pro and it still happens. And it's happned at my house and different venues, so I dpn't think it's a power suppy issue.

Will talks about the morph setup in the videos. And the Morph is the default setting for the expression pedals on the SB2 pedals.

I had:
1. morphed from clean to distortion
2. morphed Fuzz with eq to roll off all the highs (for a sweep)
3. morphed from mild to wild grit

So I had a couple questions...

1. I've noticed that my BEF Pro might be having issues. Please tell me if this is Working as intended, or if it is messed up.
I have 2 presets that are my HH presets. HH Preset 1 is X Axis, and Max Down Sweep range. HH Preset 2 is Y Axis, and Max Up Sweep range. the Freq is slightly different and the Mix is Wet for both.

The problem I am having is that when switching between the presets, I've noticed the presets aren't saving the knob positions. only the effect. So lets say the knobs are in the position of HH preset 1. If I want to switch to HH preset 2, I have to manually turn the Sweep range and Axis knobs or else I won't get the proper sounds that I got when I saved the preset. Working as intended or broken?

2. I've been playing with my new SB2 MWBD, and I love it. The other night I was playing and I had my amp turned down due to people sleeping in the house... and I found this awesome combo of distortion with my BEF Pro preset. So I saved the preset. Sad thing is, when I tried it out the next day, I turned my amp up to normal volume and quickly realized that due to the fact that I had my amp turned down when I found the awesome distortion preset, I hadn't realized that the settings needed on the peda to get that distortion, are extremely amped up and it causes my amp to clip at normal volume levels. I tried lowering the drive and boost on the MWBD, but alas it doesn't sound anything like the preset that I had saved.

So my question is, Would a compressor alleviate these issues? I have no experience with compressors, but I understand that they are suppose to even out your volume levels across the board and help save you in instances where things are too loud and too quiet when switching between effects. If so, would any compressor do the job? I've been looking into a cheap solution which is the Joyo compressor, its like $35 new. Any advice would be great!

1. Presets. Are they blinking when you make the changes in the backpage? They have to be blinking to be saved. The other thing I'd try would be to go out of the backpage and move a band of the eq up, then down to where you had it. This should surely make the preset start blining and save-able. It took me a long time to figure out copying to the second bank because I wasn't making any changes to the preset, so it would switch off when going to the second bank. But I think I have it figured out now.

2. Common problem of late night patching, then gig comes and it's nothing like what you spent so much time on. Not sure there is any solution other than tweeking at full levels.

1. I'm not referring to backpage settings... just the knob settings (Mix, Sweep Range, Frequency, and Speed[or Axis])

2. Yeah I suppose you're right. Guess I gotta play with it more to try and get that sound back at the higher levels.

Try doing a "Recall" after you save the preset to verify it was saved or not.

Does that work with the BEF pro? I can only get the recall function to work with the MWBD pro.

By the way, you can tweak the overall volume of the BEF in the backpage, so you can hit it with a hard response from the MWBD and trigger the filter, but still be at a low volume level.

Hey SA bretheren...I am putting a few of my SA pedals up for sale...BEFPRO (might change my mind on this one), MWBDPRO, and SA Expression Pedal...along with a few wired hot hands:

Just thinning out the herd for a baby that will be charging out in November!

Sleepy, we will miss you! You may want to swap the baby for the pedal at age 13, but lots of time to think about that......and the BEF Pro IV will just be hitting the market by then!

Hi there S.A.S.S. people!
First a few words about why am I posting: I have a new music project comming up which I am really excited about... but it will involve some dub stepy wobly basslines and maybe a bit of a drumnbass sound. So far I have never used any effects what so ever, so I started reading about what might help me achieve the above mentioned sounds. And here I am amongst you nice folks :)
So far I came to the conclusion that BEF might do the trick. But I am not sure what is it capable of. If the distortion effect is necessary too or not? My budget is limited thats why I ask. That leads me to my next question.
What is the practical and technical difference between BEF 1 and BEF Pro?
I mean is the quality of the sound the same? Or does the Pro version use different convertors or hardware? And what are other practical differences? I know the basic version doesnt have presets (I could do without those) and eq, but what else will I be missing?
Would you recommend saving up for the Pro version or is the basic one still amazing? Dont forget that I have never used such a device :)

If you read it all and even give me an advice, thanks so much!!
English is not my first language so I try to be as clear as possible and post unnecessarily long posts as a result :)

Hey Callas,

Glad to you're thinking about jumping on board!

The BEF and BEF Pro have the same effect sounds in them and the essential hardware is the same. The BEF Pro offers quite a few more options. It has LFO with adjustable wave form shapes, expression pedal input, graphic EQ, 6 savable presets and MIDI input.

I don't feel like I can say which one you should get based on cost but I can say that the added value of the BEF Pro is worth a lot more than the increase price. A lot of 'bang for your buck' as they say. Granted, that is just my heavily biased opinion.

Thanks for such a fast reply! And for your heavily biased opinion as well... it is apreciated nonetheless :)
I just saw a second hand offer on the BEF Pro + HH here which costs about the same as a new BEF in my country :) but I am from Europe, so the shipping costs might be huge, I have no idea. Anyways I contacted the seller and hope we will come to an agreement :)

Regarding the specific differences. Can you explain a bit more what is LFO? And how will the nonPro version sound different due to not having it?

Thanks again
