I'm not a preamp guy, so the Ictineo hasn't been of interest to me.

The ATE v2, however, is my next pedal buy. I'm gonna replace my V1 Fifth Gear and Azure Drive (which I've settled into using as just a dirty boost into a V2 Fifth Gear) with the ATE v2. Just gotta flip some pedals first!

It should be quite loud, but that can be impacted by the pedals infront of it in the chain or your pickups.

It was louder when played on it's own. When I first noticed it I was playing through a different rig (solid state into 4x10) and a a fairly low volume (for me). When I played it at practice and I cranked the vol & gain it was noticeably louder that on the other rig. I have other fuzz / overdrive pedals with higher output - some with a ridiculous amount - but I don't have any concerns.

Not really sure what was happening earlier.

My Dual V1 Fifth Gear (yup, you read that right) is one of the last pedals I'd ever get rid of, as it is absolutely essential to my sound. I run one half of it always on at the start of my chain to add some magic tonal fattening sauce - my band was recently in the studio, and the engineer was amazed at the different in my sound with the Fifth Gear off versus on...naturally, he told me to leave the Fifth Gear on "and don't ever turn that off!". Then, I use the other half of it set a little hotter to push my whole chain just a touch more when needed. If you think one Fifth Gear on its own sounds good, you REALLY need to try two of them stack together. Deeeeeeeeelicious!

The Utility Knife has hit my GAS list, jumping on close to the top of it. Can't wait to take one for a spin!

I recall reading on a thread here that SP decided to start using the taller enclosures at some point to give the guts some room.

I'd be interested in knowing how many have been made + what # they were on when they made the changeover to the taller box.

We have sent out 86 since rebranding. It was around SN 060 when we switched to the taller enclosures. The reason we made the switch was to give the top mounted jacks more space and be able to switch to a more flush-mounted DC jack. As those of you with SN < 60 know, the DC jack is a tight fit. With the new enclosure we have LOADS of room. We'd love to know - how do people feel about the taller enclosures? They are the same as most of the bigger boxed pedals (see: Empress Reverb, etc.) so we figured it wouldn't be much of an issue.

Ditto! I hope the 6-10 week estimate mentioned earlier in this thread still stands; it's been 4 weeks since that comment, which would mean we're getting close!

No problems for me. Sure, it's a little taller but not obnoxiously so. Then again, I don't have the same level of pedal OCD as some have. I'll try to get a picture to show perspective this evening - my v2 5th gear is currently nestled between two 3leaf pedals which are more like the "standard" size (see my post here: The NANO Club! the pedaltrain babies or equivalent!!).

If the taller enclosure means one can use pancake patch cables, it would be a winner for me. I use pancakes as much as possible but I can't with my shorter V2, there just isn't enough room.

That's interesting - we made the original to take pancakes, but maybe yours are a bit bigger? Is it the power cable/jack that gets in the way?

The taller version can definitely accommodate pancake jacks.

We have approved the prototype enclosure and they are on their way. Boards are incoming, and parts have been ordered. I think we should be ready to ship in the 4-6 week range, but you never know for sure.
