I will tell you just by picking it up and playing for no more than 5 min that this is by far the nicest bass I have ever owned...and maybe even one of the nicest, most comfortable basses I have ever played. (Carl Thompson's and Fodera's being the other two on that list)

...and WOW :eek: does the black stain on the flame maple look AMAZING in person!

As far as growlier... the haz copies on the NS-2A were pretty good. Perhaps a USA NS-2 might be a little more growly, but honestly with active EMGs and that haz copy you're getting into the area where the margin for difference may be 10-15% if that much.

Strings help... as does the amp your play through.

But just to be fair... don't say you were not warned... pretty soon that bass will consume your mind... and the fever will be full-blown active. And you'll end up like a lot of us... a room full of Spectors, an empty bank account, and tons of temptation to start selling off non-vital organs to science to finance yet more Spectors. :D

It's a great disease to have.

Do you (or anyone else) know if it is possible to order those knobs separately? I installed the haz-copy in my NS20004 and the set-screw knobs I got for it are nowhere near as nice as those, I believe those come standard on haz-equipped Spectors and I would LOVE a set of those knobs on mine. :hyper:

Also congrats on the great upgrade :D

Spector calls them "IE2B" black plastic knobs.

JPS are these available separately?
Or you can email PJ, if JPS dosent know.

Total newb question on my part, but I figured I'd ask it here since you guys are all really helpful/patient. What kind of tool do you use to tighten the set screw on the knobs of your bass? The knob on my treble pot fell off while I was practicing earlier.
Again, thanks for the help, and sorry for the newb-ness. I really need to take the time to learn how to really maintain and set up my basses.

Most spector knobs are press-fit.

I was going to buy a set of those when i first got the haz-copy, but it says those are press-on. The ones Lima got have a set-screw which is required because (at least on my haz-copy) the pots are smooth solid-shaft, not knurled.

For any Forte owners, the Pot holes do not need to be made bigger then will accommodate the Haz Pots.

The circuit comes with a pre wired input jack and the wires connect to the post and get clipped in with a plastic top. (No soldering needed)
It also comes with new Knobs that fit the larger pot shafts.

That looks like it would be useful to pick up. Well, in the meantime I'm just gonna go at it with the smallest screwdriver I've got. I don't think I could mess it up that bad. Famous last words, I know...

The ones on the top of that page (in black) are what I bought originally and currently have on the bass, good call! :)

I just noticed Lima had the perfect stock knobs and I really like the big obvious white dot they have, tried painting the dot on those black knobs but it didn't stick.

Hopefully JPS will chime in soon about where i can get the real-deal like Lima got :D

Actually, I just found the little bag of tools that came with the bass. Found one in there that worked perfectly. Good as new now. Thanks for all the responses. The helpfulness of people on here is a big part of why I love this club.
