I just received an Ampeg SVP-Pro from a fellow TB'er and the clip light next to the gain comes on at the slightest touch, gain 1/4 of the way up and master is 1/4 of the way up.

just to spot check me here is how I have it running.

Ampeg SVP-Pro > QSC RMX 1450 > Hartke Hydrive 410

the pre is connected to the power amp via 12 gauge 3ft 1/4 to 1/4 and the power amp is connected to the cab via 12 gauge 3ft speakon.

Any ideas to help me trouble shoot would be greatly appreciated!

Is there a -15dB switch? IT may be receiving a hot signal from your bass? Set it right up to the point where it clips on occasion, meaning, just when you're hitting hard notes if that makes sense...that's what I do. Then turn your Master volume to the volume you want to play.

thanks again jaymi. i can get there so far. when i tried the part of the thumb you were saying, it's just not possible. so i'll use it the best i can but when i strike the g string,:D, i get a stinking harmonic and i have to hit it differently.:hiding: so im trying to figure out a way to strike it where it rings out. i have to do a downward strike to get it to come out right. of course i was using the ibanez my friend let me borrow to learn songs in b. so great job with the vids and cant wait for more. oh yeah, nice name drop. my face got red when you said my name. lol.

Thought you might get a chuckle out of that one...Not too many people use the thumb to hit the G, I put it there as an exercise to help with thumb dexterity. Most of the time the G is popped or hammered so not to worry if that one sounds a little different

There are a couple ways that people have explained the multi hit thumb...I will try to make it clear on one of the next ones...

Yeah the pad button is a -15db pad. I use it for active electronics and turn it off for passive.

I think a lot of my issues came from the gauge of the cable from pre to power. I changed it to a patch cable and it helped a lot.

I realize after a few hours with it last night that it is a different animal than the other amps I have recently owned (Hartke LH500 and GK MB500 Fusion)

It is worth the initial learning curve because it sounds so good!!!

It probably came with the non-trim TonePump...Good luck with the swap out!

Don't get me wrong :ninja:...I still love the feeling of the Forte 4 neck :bassist:...I was just suprised with how the Forte 5 felt and measured in comparison :). The Forte 5 will be my main go to bass now though :hyper:...that's because I prefer a 5 string over a 4 string :D. I told my wife why didn't I order a 5er to begin with??? :rolleyes: Then I'd have either two 5's now or a 5er & 6er. :cool:

If only the neck itself is damaged then I would mess around trying to fix the neck, I'd order a new neck and replace it. Is the body damaged in the pocket area?
