Great bass.... They have a chunkier neck. I liked it tho. The string spacing is a little wider. My biggest beef with the JAR is the badass bridge, it is sharp and I would cut my hand on it, every time I played with a pick.
It is one of those basses that just oozes blues and funk, in my opinion. i wouldn't mind picking another one up for session work some day.
And on another note, I took a trip to a local GC with my guitarist and drummer, and ended up scoring an awesome used sansamp BDDI (not a mark on it!) for $100. Pretty darn good day so far!
You and I are in the same boat Johnny Boy. I love a big, thick neck. I also love the fact that I never have to touch the trussrod once I get my action dialed. Coming from EBMM's this is a good thing.
Speaking of necks, and I mentioned this earlier, I measures my 2 USA's and the Forte takes the "Big Neck Challenge" by the narrowest of margins. I'll get you your numbers soon Patrick.
A little self-promotion.

Yes! The thicker necks don't need adjusting as much as I'm finding out. Yesterday I changed my Forte 5 strings from the chrome Flats back to the "Power Slinkies". There is something in the back regions of my mind that keeps saying "Put those Slinkies back on"! Lol So I did.
I noticed the neck had a slight "down" bow (more space under strings at the 12th fret) so I adjusted the truss rod. This is the second time I've adjusted the truss rod since March when I got the Forte 5. With all my other Spectors I'd only adjusted the truss rod once or none. One thing I really noticed right off the get go when I picked up the Forte 5 for the first time was how thin the neck is! While I had the strings off I took the neck measurements for Patrick and I'm amazed how very little gradual increase in thickness the Forte 5 neck is. I love this! It reminds me of the Ian Hill's neck. It's definately the thinnest neck on all the Fiver's that I've owned so far. So yes...thicker necks do have their advantages.

I know, I know.:scowl::scowl:
The Geek Police already showed up at my house and took away my new-in-the-box Millennium Falcon and my vintage X-Men action figures after they burned all my comics and pissed in my Xbox. Terrible, terrible mistake. Obelisk... what a sad and horrifying blunder. I'll never be the same after this. Never. There's no easy way out. There's no shortcut home. There's no easy way out. Giving in can be wrong (anyone get that reference? Anyone?).

yeah, the sansamp is a must have....it gets closest to the svt sound without all the trouble of having to carry that 100lb head around...been using one for years....
