"Karate Kid", "Buckaroo Banzi" & "They Live" were all pretty bad, but at least they had some memorable one-liners & slightly better than soap opera acting performances.
Now if you want a truly bad '80s movie with little to no socially redeeming value, then may I present....



Not as bad as "Twilight" mind you, but then again, is there anything as bad as "Twilight"?

Oh man, my 13 year old daughter was attempting to watch Howard the Duck not to long ago and I had to just leave the room. That one was bad back in the 80's and is even worse now.

This is a Neck through Spector. Notice the maple goes all the way down. The "wings" are the spalted maple/walnut.

This is a Set neck Gibson. There are no bolts. Spector's are more blended together so it's harder to tell the difference.

Thanks guys. I get it now. I wasn't sure how the neck fastened. Pretty neat actually. I wish I would have done more wood work growing up as I find it fascinating as I get older. Just no time or resources to do it now. Just the thought of refinishing my NSCRFM seems intimidating to me when that should probably be a simple project for most.

I don't like using the term MINT but this sucker is pretty dang close. I have it strung with chest thumping Cobalt's and the action is SICK low. The neck on this bass is very similar to a Kramer 2A. Very sleek and fast. For those that don't know it has a 3 band EG (stacked bass/treble) and vol/vol. $420 shipped to the 48 for the club price. I'll let it marinade here for a few days before it goes to the masses. Let me know...

Hey Jaymi...I'm loving me the "Power Slinkies" even more now! :D
I've been playing them thru my Ampeg B-15T and Ampeg BA-112. Sweet raspy growl coming thru loud and clear! My drummer at practice tonight couldn't say enough about the Spector Forte 5 growl thru the BA-112! :bassist:

I am also really appreciative of Sam, Chuckles, John, Jaymi, Tony, Patrick, Donny, Michael, Chris (and many others) as well who have all gone out of their way to make me feel welcome and are always there with a helping hand or word of encouragement or advice.

I don't do social networking stuff (said waving my cane and yelling in a crotchety, curmudgeonly manner at the children running down the street disturbing my peaceful time on the porch. Those little bastards, don't they know that their Atari games and disco clothes are going to ruin this country? Don't they!!!????). No Facebook, no myspace, no twitter, etc. I just never got into it. But this Spector club is one of those bonuses about being a bass player in general and being a Spector owner in particular that has been a really wonderful surprise. It's definitely helped me learn quite a lot and given me a chance to participate in a unique community where I get opportunities to help people out in the small ways that I'm able to. It's a great thing.

I have used both TI and black label Sadowskys before, but don't have the budget to spend on those right now, especially since it's an experiment. The qualities I liked in them though were flexibility, light gauges, and clarity.

I'm on Amazon and I have a small pile in my shopping cart, but aren't too sure which to jump on:

Chromes: ECB80 or ECB81
Half rounds: ENR70 or ENR71
Rotosound: SM77

The Rotos are tempting because they match the gauges of the Steel rounds I have on the bass now, but they're over $30 and all of the D'Addarios are under $25.

Based on what I liked about the TI's and the Sadowsky strings, what would you all recommend?

GHS Precision stainless steel flatwounds. You can buy them from $22-28.00. I loved them! I used to put them on all my basses for 4 years running. My Forte 5 is the only one I hadn't put them on. I'm saving for Jaco Dogals! :D
