Lee - very nice!
And IMHO, there's no such thing as "too much rig" when it comes time to play large outdoor gigs - the more cone area & power, the better, even if the PA is up to snuff.

I know this has come up before here, but I was wondering what USB or other type of interfaces people are using for recording. I was just gifted with a nice laptop for my senior year/college, and it doesn't have an 1/8th inch sound input like most other Macs I've seen. I've seen some M-audio stuff on musiciansfriend that looks pretty good, but I'd be open to suggestions.

I use this one in my Macbook and it works great.

Nothing exquisite but it definitely gets the job done. If you want more than 1 input, you would want to look at the Pro model which goes for about $200.

I'm not looking for anything too fancy. I'll most likely just be running my bass into either my hartke or mxr into whatever interface, so as long as it gets the sound through clearly, that's all I need.
And for some reason, when I returned my sansamp to Guitar center (which I got used) they gave me what it would cost new (100 more than what I paid) on a gift card, and at that price I wouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket for it if I went through GC. Hooray for clerks making errors in the customer's favor! :bassist:

I have some news also... I just got off the phone with Mr.Bassie and his CRFM will be coming to me soon. I want to tell everybody that if you ever get a chance to deal with Joe, DO IT. He is a joy to talk to and is passionate about these instruments. This will be my 2nd bass from Joe and both basses will be my stage/studio basses (the Jade CRFM was used on my bands upcoming album). Here are some teasers.... the serial numbers are 75 apart.... that has got to be a good thing \m/ :bassist:

Thanks man. Dealing with you guys, is just so refreshing. There are no trust issues. I have had nothing but stellar experiences when buying, selling, trading, whatever, with a Spector club member. I need to get on the "My Spector Story" groove. I think its a great way for us to introduce ourselves to each other and other bass players. I was actually looking at Donnys (worshiprocker) a couple of days ago. Bro, a lot has changed since then:) definitely need a part 2 from you.

Hey dudes - string talk (again) derail for just a second....

I've been a stainless guy for a long time but ended up putting some nickel slinkies on last night (from the Brooklyn Jaymi sold me). They seem pretty fresh and sounded really good in a different way from stainless (using Pro Steels right now).

I'm thinking about keeping them on my NS 2 just for a slight tone change. Question: Slinkies get ripped a lot in the "string" section for not lasting very long. I take a lot of that with a grain of salt but curious to hear others opinion. Jaymi says he gets about 6 months out of them, which is incredible. Any other thoughts on long lasting nickels...especially Slinkies?

Yes, I'd love to do a "My Spector Story", just like I'd love to share sound clips of my latest recordings (very proud of our latest song, first one with this band that I've written & arranged entirely on my own), but unfortunately my computer skills aren't as good as they could be, and I need to update my camera & recording gear before I can start sharing my endeavors here.

Like you, I run ProSteels on my Spectors, but my Stingray prefers Slinkies, and I usually get about four months out of a set. I think my Spectors sound pretty good with nickles, but they sound friggin' great with steels, and the action feels better too. The steels also seem to last much longer than the nickles do.

I had been a strictly nickel user for my whole playing life of 20+ years until I finally tried some DR steels on my Euro 5LX. Right now I only have one of the Spector with nickels still. Steel just seems right for these.

I agree that the Slinkies seem to just sound right on the Stingrays.

Another option is the new EB Cobalts. I have them on one of my SR5's and they are definitely closer to steel than nickel IMO but are still different. They're supposedly higher output too but I haven't observed that myself yet.

I'm typically a nickel guy but my CRFM I had did not do well with nickel DR's or D'Addario's IMO. I wish I would've kept it and tried steels on it.

When I owned my NS2-JAR I had Sam the Spector Pimp put on a set of GHS Progressives to try out. It was a tonal match made in heaven. I would really like to get a neck thru Spector again and try these strings on it. Amazing strings!
