That is really odd...I'm not disputing you Todd as you're one of the most authoritives on Spector basses,but I just can't imagine Stuart not fulfilling an Artist request??? I suppose it has to do with C&C machining, but just seems really odd.

Well I finally had a chance to play my NS2A in a band setting. (been bandless since my work went to swingshift) Church function with some worship music but also some outside the box stuff. In the set we also played some country, rock and as little funk. And when I say a little funk I mean as funky as a bunch of stale old white guys can get. So a badly played funk song......Anyway, the 18V TP, active EMG equipted NS2A killed on everything. I went direct through my BDDI and it totally cut through everything. Probably the most under-rated bass (outside the Spector club) out there. I can't wait until the day I can unlease it through my amp live........Now if I could just get of this damn swing shift....

Excellent! Love hearing different Genre' on Spectors! Interesting right hand play style where you used your thumb along with finger picking!

I really like and am trying to incorporate the same technique into my playing...but I am still in the noob stage and it's all awkward and stuff!!

My post from two pages back... I guess you missed this...
Since everything in Woodstock is still done by hand and pin routed, Stuart would have to totally reverse the build process, switching right for left. Which means a complete new set of route templates created.
There's a lot of trial and error in developing these and because the demand for lefty USA basses is so low, perhaps one or two requests a year, it's not cost effective to take Stuart off building the basses he already has spent years tweaking and perfecting the routing templates for to basically create the NS-Bass in reverse.
Todd's absolutely right. It's not a matter of not wanting to give an artist what they ask for... just not a simple process at all. And it would take months for him to do. There's just not enough demand for lefty USA basses to justify Stuart having to spend that much time to develop the reverse templates.
It is not something as simple as "press a button" on the CNC machine and it can spit out a reverse copy. Stuart has a CNC but it is only used for rough cutting of neck forms.
I was there in July and I can promise you, if it comes from NY, it's made by hand.

The loop station definitely helps for practicing the technique. Ive been practicing this technique off and on for about 2 years. The hardest part for me is getting a fluid attack with it. I can say it definitely improves your slapping technique too.
If it's some kind of plating process, the term "alloy", which refers to a mixture, not plating, should not be used.

When my mom lived in Kingston I was always trying to make time to check out Spector. However I always end up visiting out East during holidays.
My gramps, the metallurgist, would roll in his grave!
But yes this is exactly what I am confused about.
Fluid and even attacks with all fingers is what always gets me too! I have pretty good control of my thumb and forefinger...probably because I'm a slapper...but my middle and ring fingers are all over the place!

Last night I had the crappiest gig ever (in ever I mean my entire 8 gigs with Winter Of Freedom )
We were part of this local music scene festival and each band played 3 songs...
First off we could not hear anything on stage. We were hearing the house sound more than the stage which echoed back to us and so lucky for us that our keyboard player keeps amazing time with her leg and that's how I kept time.
Then, the amp.... oh man. It was a beat up rental of an SVT 3 Pro with a 410 Traynor cab which basically meant crappy.
I had the gain at 2 o'clock and the master volume at 4 o'clock which meant that I was driving the hell out of that thing and still got nothing out of it.
The she was streamed live and so Sam captured some screen shots for us

yeah the first biggest challenge for me was building the strength in my ring finger to pluck well enough. now its pretty much equal with the rest of my fingers. it also helped me develop a better 3 finger pluck for galloping like steve harris does.
