This is my thought exactly, and as a matter of fact I had one guy in mind to get it that will make sense to everyone once he gets it....

Thanks guys again for all the support. I was going to multi-quote all of the responses but it would have been like 3 pages. I can't thank you all enough for everything you have all done for me, you are the best.

Chris.

Yes, I think i know of whom you speak...............LOL

I try like hell to get into BTBAM every once in a while, and then the vocals ruin it for me. And it's not that I don't like harsh vocals, I just don't like their singer's harsh vocals.

I wish they'd do like Periphery did and release instrumental versions.

On the Jammt/Songsterr topic, I've seen too many tabs at Songsterr that are just sloppy or dead wrong so that kind of turned me off to it.

Jammit has been great though. I remember seeing a few QR and DT tabs and thinking "that's got to be wrong" only to have it confirmed by hearing the isolated track. I had been playing one note wrong on "Della Brown" for years (low A instead of higher A). So I have a high degree of confidence in the Jammit transcriptions. The only draw back is the limited amount of material available. Thankfully I'm a prog fan because the product does seem to be very prog-centric (DT, QR, Rush, Yes). I would love some more genres though. For example I'd love to have all of Pearl Jam Ten or Peter Gabriel So. Of course any Porcupine Tree or Opeth would make me giddy.

Yeah, I really love jammit so far and everything has been spot on so far. I agree about the limited amount of material but have been really happy with what they got so far. I too am a fan of Prog Rock but will openly admit that whenever another Dream Theater track is released I say "another one? C'mon!" :) Just not a fan of LaBrie's voice but that is obviously a personal preference and is probably why I like Between the Buried and Me so much.

Guys looking to get a B3K, just remember you have to get a 9V adapter - the new US models do not take a battery. I had an Aguilar PS that caused a lot of noise. The 1 Spot (v is the one you want - works great with it.

I remember when you had that problem. I feel bad that you went through that but it really did help a bunch of people out when having to decide on a particular adapter that should be used.

Yeah, Jammit rules. I love it. The prog stuff is right up my alley, too. I'm not quite good enough to play some of it, but it's a daily challenge that I enjoy and I've improved immensely since I started. Mixing out the bass and jamming along is as close as I come to playing with people most of the time.

** Thank you to John and whoever else clicked on that link. I received two emails: "Congrats! Your friend has just clicked on your referral link and you both got 2 weeks of Plus free." So hopefully you got your free weeks as well.

I've found Songster has some bad one and some good ones. often the good ones are from records that had a tab book released. People must just copy from the book. I'll have to check out the BTBAM tracks to see how accurate... oh hell, who am I kidding, that stuff is so technical and fast I wouldn't know the difference. :hiding:

I just listened to Colors for the first time ever this weekend and I like it way better than Alaska. Now I need to check out the new one.

Hey, glad to get you a few extra weeks then :) Yes, I was definitely one of the ones that clicked it.

I am not familiar with Alaska but Colors and The Great Misdirect are just awesome. I got The Parallax II as well but haven't listened to it as much as Colors and Misdirect. You will not be disappointed though and I really like the song "Telos" which they did play when I saw them.

You bought flats, though. CK does not sell flats. If you want something the equivalent to CircleK's from BSO, he has custom sets of D'addario or SIT's for about $15 a set.

D'Addario's I've tried their chrome flats, yuk. I looked at the SITS but I think I'm getting gun shy and find myself going back to GHS. This will be the first time I've tried a customized light set. Normally I buy mediums but I'm looking for less tension. Thanks!

I like periphery.... Don't like the vocals! That's instrumental was awesome hahaha

It's wierd, I didn't mid the vocals at all on the first Periphery record, but their singer's pop influence kind of ruined a lot of the tracks for me on the second one. and some of his lyrics don't really do it for me. It's too bad, since Nolly's bass work on that album is incredible.

...And Sandy just took out a massive tree near our house, and the lights are starting to flicker with some of the strong winds. This is gonna suck... Least my laptop's got some juice and I got my bass to practice. :bassist:

They're a really tight band. Maybe it just takes time to let the vocals grow on you.... Like.... Rush :hiding:

Haha, maybe. I actually never got the flack Geddy got for his voice, but everyone's got their opinions. With Spencer it's not so much his voice as his overly pop-ish vocal styling (melody, lyrics, etc). I hope they go heavier on their next album. \M/

Whoa. Heard from PJ that everyone at Spector was heading out early.

I was more surprised they were planning on staying open

Hope all you east coast ppl stay safe and well!

That's funny, if I had been around when Rush first started I might not have liked them either. Not a big fan of Fly By Night or Caress of Steel at all. Don't like Geddy's ultra-high vocal phase. Permanent Waves is the earliest Rush record I like every song on. And I prefer the 80's Rush. :hiding:

You would love the current tour then.....

I love Rush and have for over 30 years (saw them in 1981)... But the first 1/2 of the current tour? Holy Presto, Power Windows and Grace under Pressure! The whole friggin' first 1/2!

It was good, but wayyyyy to much mid '80's for me.

Ooh I may have to see them this time then. Power Windows is one of my favorites.

Back in the mid-90's my prog band covered "Dreamline" off Roll the Bones. Let's just say the crowd at the local club probably thought it was another original since no one seemed to know the song. :ninja:

Yeah I figured they'd get out of there and head for safety. Least to say, we probably won't see our basses shipped out this week. Lol
When I was expecting one of my Forte's seemed like a freak blizzard shutdown the east coast earlier this year. And my Forte was delayed by a week. Maybe I better quit ordering new basses from NY, I'm a jinx! :scowl: :ninja:
