I'm checking out that B3K on YouTube now. Sounds killer. Definitely want to hear your feedback on it. It's about a hundred buck more than the Sansamp Bass Driver, so I'll have to figure that into the decision.

Way better than the Sans in my opinion. Love it with my passive jazz, my ns2a and the ns20004, have not found the sweet spot with my Rebop yet, but I will

I'm pretty fortunate. My sweet spot on the B3K is all dials at noon with my Spector's. That helps a lot at gigs.

Nice! I find the knobs move a little too easily for my taste - I need to get around to taping some markers on there.

+1, soaking gives the alcohol time to break up the oils and grim that builds up on the strings and does not rust the cores like boiling does.

Breaking up the grim...that's awesome!
I know you meant "grime", but playing metal, I probably have a buildup of "grim" on mine!

FYI, denatured alcohol is ethanol (booze), with a toxic additive that prevents drinkage. There are several government formulations; the most common one in the hardware stores is 2A. It has been a while, but I'm pretty sure it contains IPA (rubbing alcohol) and MIBK (methyl isobutyl ketone). The denaturants are only 3-5% of the formulation, just enough to keep us from drinking it. However, MIBK and other ketones (acetone, MEK) are very harsh solvents, and are very effective at cleaning metals. The low concentration in ethanol is a perfect cleaning solvent blend.
If you're gonna wipe the strings, I'd use acetone. It works quickly and evaporates very quickly too.

Well, I may have just talked myself into moving a bass I thought was previously "unmovable" for me. I bought a second SR5 (an HH) last year brand new last year during a black Friday sale. Beautiful pearl blue with rosewood. I was really jazzed when I found out its build date was my birthday. Haven't played it a lot but that's largely because I've been focusing on the Spectors this year.

So I've been playing my Webster and 6LX quite a bit this past month. Just getting some chops polished up and trying to play more in general. Decide to pull the new SR5 HH out for the heck of it today. And I came to the realization - I don't think I need this bass anymore. Don't get me wrong it sounds great for a 'Ray and feels nice, but I think I've fully converted myself now. I missed the Spector tone when I was playing it against some tracks.

I would never get rid of my 10 year old 'Ray for sentimental reasons, but I think I may try to move this one soon. Should be able to make most of what I need for a down payment on something....

I've been feeling the exact same way about my Am Dlx fretless jazz. It's just not a Spector. The tone is great, but it's not a tone pump. And while its a relatively light and comfortable bass (compared to other basses I've had in the stable), it's just not that NS body.

Having said that, I hope no one who's considering it reads my post. And if they do, it's an amazing fretless that will satisfy you for the rest of your life.

That's another thing I noticed too - I felt like I had a big bass on my side playing the SR5. The Spectors just kind of fit you.

Yeah I figured they'd get out of there and head for safety. Least to say, we probably won't see our basses shipped out this week. Lol
When I was expecting one of my Forte's seemed like a freak blizzard shutdown the east coast earlier this year. And my Forte was delayed by a week. Maybe I better quit ordering new basses from NY, I'm a jinx! :scowl:

Lol.... I had the same feeling last year when my euro4xl was at the shop and they got hit with a blizzard and it didn't go out that week...

It's a 2009 Euro LX.

Guys, from your experience - which of B3Ks work better with active Spectors - finnish or USA? And has anybody already tested it with NS-2? Just saw the reviews on youtube, this thing is a killer. I'll definately buy one...so if anybody already got bored with it I'd buy it from you with pleasure)))

Sold my Euro 4LX-TW35 recently and now think of selling my 435LX. I'm so happy with what I can dial in with my Kramer NS-2 that these two have no play time at all... NS-2 takes all)

+1....I had an awesome Sadowsky and even a very nice customised Fender Geddy Lee...both were good especially the Sadowky...but playing them standing up or seated they didn't fit like the NS body....The Sadowsky's sound was close. But neither fit like a glove as the Spectors do....Not only do Spectors play well but they fit all shapes and sizes...

This confused me forever so I remember it like this:

Front bow = relief. So adding relief equals more front bow.

Then I tell myself tightening reduces front bow or relief, while loosening increases front bow or relief.

Then it's just a matter of remembering lefty-loosey or righty-tighty.
