Yeah, I have been a fan of Dan and Between the Buried and Me for the last few months but I have been listening to their new CD a huge amount lately which is why I am on a BTBAM kick right now. I will take responsibility for introducing this topic the other day

I will admit that after watching all these Youtube videos and listening to them, I really want to pickup an NS-2005 to mess around with. Guitar Center has a blue one on their site for $489 which looks pretty nice but the pictures are kind of small so it's tough to see. I need to pickup the notation books he wrote for the two CD's before the newest one and just have to slow the songs down with Aplitube to try and get them at speed but that is going to take me a while

Also, thinking way back, there was some conversation here about the Sansamp something or other. Was it you who is using something from them? I've been looking at the Paradriver and Bass Driver to use with my MarkBass Micro 801. Something to get me some nice heavy tone out of that little amp.

Well fortunately or unfortunately they kicked us out of work at noon today as hurricane Sandy approaches my area of teh US here in new england.

So I will be home in case I need to evacuate my Spectors For now I'm playin them though!

That BTBAM video has me rocking my NS20005, I'm not a fan of their....vocalist...so I don't really listen to their stuff, but I do appreciate that sick bass tone he gets from his NS20005!

If you go to Songsterr you can find tabs with sound. If my memory serves me there are some BTBAM tabs there.

Also, thinking way back, there was some conversation here about the Sansamp something or other. Was it you who is using something from them? I've been looking at the Paradriver and Bass Driver to use with my MarkBass Micro 801. Something to get me some nice heavy tone out of that little amp.

It really is a great product but I was just not using it at all since I am just playing along to songs in my office so it was way overkill for me. I am just going to pickup a B3K for now and use that and if I ever do get more serious and play out a bit, then I can start getting some better gear.

I've used those Songsterr tabs quite a bit in the past.... until Jammit entered my life. LOL Many seemed quite good to me. I'm sure people take the tab books and turn them into the electronic versions with the MIDI sounds.

Will do, the guy I picked it up from plays passive basses and on the us version like this one they changed the sweep on the pot from the Finnish model. So I take it that the Finnish model is best for the passive players. He loved the pedal just ordering the Finnish.

I'm checking out that B3K on YouTube now. Sounds killer. Definitely want to hear your feedback on it. It's about a hundred buck more than the Sansamp Bass Driver, so I'll have to figure that into the decision.

I have the Sansamp BDDI and I have always used it to fine tune my tone for years. I love the 6 channels which I only use 3 on the A bank. So I will review it when I can actually sped some time with it this week. Battening down the hatches today and then off to work.

Sweet! Thanks, I will give that a shot. Oh, if someone take the books and make them into electronic versions, that would rule. I believe they have an iPad app for Songsterr so I will look at that also.

I've had one for a few months myself and love it. I actually use it in front of my VT Bass for my live rig to give my Eden rig some grit.

I haven't tried running it directly into a DI yet for recording - still using the RBI for that. Maybe the B3K into the RBI?

Yeah, most of the tabs online are wrong, although its mostly the sections where he grooves over blast beats (which makes up a good portion of their stuff, actually). The book isn't a bad investment at all of you really wanna learn their stuff accurately.

On the Jammt/Songsterr topic, I've seen too many tabs at Songsterr that are just sloppy or dead wrong so that kind of turned me off to it.

Jammit has been great though. I remember seeing a few QR and DT tabs and thinking "that's got to be wrong" only to have it confirmed by hearing the isolated track. I had been playing one note wrong on "Della Brown" for years (low A instead of higher A). So I have a high degree of confidence in the Jammit transcriptions. The only draw back is the limited amount of material available. Thankfully I'm a prog fan because the product does seem to be very prog-centric (DT, QR, Rush, Yes). I would love some more genres though. For example I'd love to have all of Pearl Jam Ten or Peter Gabriel So. Of course any Porcupine Tree or Opeth would make me giddy.

Guys looking to get a B3K, just remember you have to get a 9V adapter - the new US models do not take a battery. I had an Aguilar PS that caused a lot of noise. The 1 Spot (v is the one you want - works great with it.

A thought....once you are sure you will be selling the Ian Hill.....and it sounds like you are. I think it would be cool to offer it up to the club before it hits the main classifieds. I say this because of one main reason. I believe that bass to have loads of good karma associated with it. I think that maybe even one of the members that contributed funds towards that bass might be quick to buy it given the history behind it. Maybe I'm being silly, however I think someone might want that to "stay in the family" so to speak. What do you think?

This is my thought exactly, and as a matter of fact I had one guy in mind to get it that will make sense to everyone once he gets it....

Yeah, Jammit rules. I love it. The prog stuff is right up my alley, too. I'm not quite good enough to play some of it, but it's a daily challenge that I enjoy and I've improved immensely since I started. Mixing out the bass and jamming along is as close as I come to playing with people most of the time.

I've found Songster has some bad one and some good ones. often the good ones are from records that had a tab book released. People must just copy from the book. I'll have to check out the BTBAM tracks to see how accurate... oh hell, who am I kidding, that stuff is so technical and fast I wouldn't know the difference.

I just listened to Colors for the first time ever this weekend and I like it way better than Alaska. Now I need to check out the new one.
