non trim tonepump a tend to hurt. solid wings tend to help. having Jeff consign your bass also tends to help! lol

In regards to the non-trim TP, I'm going to try something when my EMG 40J pickups arrive. Instead of wiring it like this:

Pickups - Blend - Volume - Pre

I'm going to wire it like this:

Pickups - Blend - Pre - Volume

And then go with an 18V circuit. This will allow me to blast the pre with the full force of the pickups, but still have control over the sound without it getting muddy before the pre when I turn down. Failing this, I'm throwing either a BQC or OBP-3 in.

OK, it came, but not as expected. My first Spector. Anyone have experience with the Q5? slightly simpler body vs Legend, but sounds good. Initial impressions are fast neck, narrow nut, good tighter B string due to 35", action a little higher than my 4 string. Active electronics should leave me happy like my active P bass.

Posted here but nobody answered:

Have you contacted the seller? JPS is the only one that I know on here that had played a Q and I believe it was a Q4 and he loved it.

Man, everytime I plug my Spector in I love it that much more.

Jammed the set last night and I'm so stoked for the show tomorrow. 2nd of 4 playing for a local bands cd release, should be a pretty good turn out, and I'm really digging the band that we're opening up for, too.

Nice big stage with a nice full sized PA, and I really tweaked my tone at practice, got my rig and bass sounding minty.

Broke my low A last night but luckily I had an older string I threw on for the next few days until my basses can see my tech. Anyone else playing this weekend?

NS-X OUT FOR DELIVERY :bassist: Now to see if I can manage to not miss the truck...

What bugs me is sometimes they don't even ring the bell during the day even though my fiancee works from home and would know if they had. We literally have to leave a giant sign out there saying "WE ARE HOME - PLEASE RING BELL".

It doesn't matter with our truck deliveries...they leave it on the porch in ANY weather. :rollno: If its raining...they put a plastic bag on it. Lol Thankfully we live in the sticks where we have only summer neighbors.:)
And nothing has come up missing so far in 9 years. Heck, you wouldn't believe how many neighbors don't lock their doors to their summer homes when they leave come Labor Day! Once and only once, the substitute UPS driver put one of our packages in the living room of our next door neighbor, and we were wondering where in the blazes happened to it?! It was an important part for our 180' radio Internet tower. UPS showed it was delivered. This was Spring. Come Memorial Day weekend, our neighbors showed up, knocked on our door and handed us the box with the part that was "Delivered". :ninja:

REALLY good audition last night!!!!!! :bassist: For the first time I actually felt as though I'm playing with top notch musicians that have their act together! It was great!

The Forte 4 absolutely thundered through the mix (everyone uses in-ear monitors but they also have everything amped for vibe reasons) I played through an Ampeg SVT CL tube head that they had there with a 410CL and another Trace Elliot 410. Sounded amazing!
They really loved the Spector!!

This is the band (feel free to post Spector Propaganda! :p )
http://www.facebook.com/themightyonemusic?ref=stream

They apparently still have to sort some odds and ends with their other bassist, so I will likely know in a couple of days if I got the gig or not.

Thanks again for everyones good vibes and support!!!! :bassist: :bassist:

That's awesome seventh!:hyper::bassist: Nothing like showing up to an audition and having a rig that you love to play thru! You got it brother!

It's been a busy week and I can barely keep up with the thread. At the end of the last one, someone asked me to repost my refinished Euro. Here it is. It will have its new Aguilar pickups and preamps shortly.

Wow! That refin looks so great! I've never really been a fan of bursts but this is swaying my opinion big time. :D

So yesterday I listened to Andy's record on the way to work, which is pretty awesome, by the way! :bassist:

When I got to work, I ejected the disc so I could bring it up and listen at my desk. When I started my car later, the cassette deck automatically played (yes, a cassette deck - the reason I bought my 2005 Acura TL :D). When it started, Voivod's Angel Rat record started playing and then it hit hit me, this is the tone - what you all describe as the tone in your head (I should say it's one of the tones in my head, to go along with Eddie Jackson's). You all talk about burps, barks, middy, muddy, and everything else. Please help me describe this tone in words...

I'm going to play around tonight with my different Spectors and combo's to try and find it. I just want to know how to accurately describe the tone I'm looking for from guys who know what they are talking about.

Thanks, guys!

Side note: Voivod's Dimension Hatross, Nothingface and Angel Rat are amazing records if you want to venture back to some of the most underrated old school proggy thrash bands. Plus they are still putting out great music. (Jason Newsted played with them for a while after Metallica).

The Q 4/5 and the NS2004/5 are basically the same bass ( the Q got the figured top) these are basically the predecessor to the legends. the body is different on the legends though ( more carved NS style) .

I have a ns2004, it's a great bass. NT, the neck is a little more C shape than the Q4's i've played, which were a little flatter. Great bang for the buck bass. Blows away other basses in the price range and they can be had on the cheap ( 3-500). they came with passive emg hz's or emg ssd pups and usually the emg BT tone circuit ( 2 dip switches that let you change the eq curve). kinda neat. i loaded mine up with emg 35 p/j's and a tonepump. great basses to get into a NT spector on the cheap.

The Q was also a bolt-on, wasn't it? Cuz my NS-2000/5 has a figured top, but is a neckthru.

My NS-2000/5 keeps up with my ReBop5DLX in every regard...my only beef with it...the weight! It must weigh about 2-3lbs more than my Bop does.

Sounds like a fun event for you! The band I play with has a show booked at a new club, we play 8 to 12 with 4 sets of songs.

never seen a bolt on one. all i have seen are NT. aside from the shape and the inlays, i prefer it to my rebop as well, but i'm a NT guy. lol yep maple is heavy, but thats the price you pay for tone. lol the heavier the better imo. :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Nice, I'm definitely excited as we haven't hit the stage in over two months and had a show cancelled last month due to winnipeg weather (highways closed and drummers from out of town).

I've never played in a band that plays a whole night at a club, but I'm sure it'd be a great time because I'm always wanting more after playing the last song of our only set.

Typically we get shows with other bands and each band gets about 45 on stage, 15 setup. I take it you guys are the only band playing? Are the songs originals or covers?
