Each of the USA Spector preamps has it's own unique sound, and asking me to choose a favorite is like asking me to choose between blondes or brunettes - I can't imagine the world without either. Fortunately, I don't think I'll ever have to.
The NS-4's deep & clean voice suits my band's low-tuned original material, while the NS-2 is the most well-rounded & best overall sounding bass that I've ever laid hands on. Both basses will always have a home with me.

ok. so i got the tonepump working finally. yay! no there is another issue. the bass knob doesnt adjust the frequency. its flat all the way around. doesnt sound bad. just flat. did someone else on here recently have an issue with a tonepump they just purchased? if so, im wondering is there was a bad batch. it just makes no sense since the bass and treble are already prewired from the factory. treble works, though....hmm. ill see what superfly spector pimp has to say to me. hes investigating for me
You can email PJ at Spector, he will assist...and...on the Spector Facebook page they posted the Tonepump Jr wire diagram, if yours is the standard Tonepump they can post that diagram so you can double check all the connections before replacing the knob.

I've always thought of myself as an Ampeg guy, but I've realized my newest amp is 25 years old.
The other day, I tried some of the new GK combos and I was very impressed. They are the best sounding combos I've ever heard! Good tone, punchy and small enough for a practice amp but powerful enough to gig with. Especially with the extension cabs/amps they offer.

Clear - jump in the GK combo band wagon. I'm a staunch Ampeg guy with an SVT-VR and recently bought a GK 210 combo for practice and small venue work. It plays very well with my Spectors (Rex5 pro, Euro 4LX, USA NS-2J). There aren't many 35pound 500watt 210 cabs around that sound this good. I've had mine for about a year problem free.
I like the GK stuff more and more as well. Another good option are the Ampeg Portaflexes. I have a PF500 head with a 1x15 cab here in my office for fooling around. The head is a good size and I brought it with me to a gig down in Orlando recently. It definitely travels well and had no difficulty powering the 4x10 cab they had on hand there.
I'm also taking quite a shine to the PocketGK app for the ipad/iphone. Paired up with an Apogee Jam, it works flawlessly for quiet practice.

thank you for replying. it seems that the problem was when it was shipped, the bass and treble pots were not correctly installed??? dont know why, but thats what happened. i tried to wire them like they look like on every diagram ive seen, and the bass still doesnt work correctly. it looks like at some time today, i may be calling jimmy the man himself to see what is the issue. so until then, i will patiently wait and give you guys an update on what happened.
seems like the gk is going to be worth a shot.
although id forgotten about the littel ampeg portaflex heads and ampeg was once my dream rig but i must admit ,ive always wanted to try gk.i will agree with you 100%. i was a big time ampeg guy until i plugged my 94 through a gk rig and was highly impressed. impressed enough i am now a gk convert. i think you'd be good either way you go with ampeg or gk, but i love that gk tone and punch. it's heavenly
i wound up getting the mb800 head and 4x10 neo. 500 watts and if i add another 8 ohm 4x10, 800 watts of gk thunder. oh yeah!

yup, Its looking like March 16th/17th probably.
on the GK/Ampeg thing.... you could do what I do. GK amp through Ampeg cabs
