Ok, my information/ announcement. A while ago this club did something I have never seen any other club do. About 60 of us donated money together to buy our member and dear friend, Chris Loe (may he rest in peace), a white Ian Hill Spector euro. Steve Maddern (smadder) orchestrated all this. It was and is a beautiful instrument. When Chris decided on a cool NS2 he had found and had to have, he asked the club if we had any issues with him moving the bass to buy said ns2. at this point Steve bought the bass to enable Chris to get the NS2.

Steve has developed a significant neurological disorder over the past 9 months and it has now left him unable to play. I have kept in contact with him through all his trials in the last year, quite regularly. Without getting into too much more detail (Steve asked that I be brief and not disclose everything he has gone through and how this whole disorder has effected him), Steve asked me to help him move his bass gear. I bought a couple and helped to sell the rest of the bigger items. A little while ago he told me he was giving me a gift out of friendship. He had valued my friendship so much through this time in his life.....he was sending me the above mentioned bass. He had a USA 9 volt installed in it before sending it to me. I now have this lovely bass. It is beautiful and I believe that it has a very special value (emotional) in it. I am honored to own this bass.

No money exchanged hands for this instrument. It is not for sale, nor can or will it ever be sold. If Steve ever gets better (which he says probably wont happen but I keep encouraging him) then I will be shipping this bass back to him. There is a certain level of reverence I hold for this instrument.

I just wanted people to know what had happened to this particular instrument, as it has a special history behind it and I wanted the club to know. It sounds to me like you are a good friend to have, and he choose wisely in giving his gift. I'm new to the club and wasn't involved in any of this, but it sounds like several chapters of a wonderful story. I'm sure you'll cherish it.

Amazing!! I hope Smadder is, one day, able to play this bass again. In the meantime I know it's in great hands and will be well taken care of and played well.

Awesome Jamie, I'm sure Chris would be happy. As you know I've been touching base with Steve from time to time and hope that his situation improves so he can get the Loe bass back. Just a few weeks ago he mailed me a bananna to speakon cable cause he knew I needed one. He truly is a great individual.

What a beautiful thing! I was wondering the other day what happened to that White IH...glad to know it's been in good hands and is going to be used by someone who can really appreciate its history! Congrats!

Do you guys know someone who can make quality custom truss rod covers? I am trying to find someone to do an custom truss rod cover and trying to not have it cost me a fortune. I do not want to go into specifics about the design as I am trying to keep the idea on the DL until it becomes more of a reality.

I have been in contact with Larry at Robinson Custom Inlays and he can do it but it will be a bit pricey so I am looking at other options. If you guys know anyone feel free to pass their info my way!

You mean other than the NS-4 he stole... Right?

Want to know where he went? It wasn't a medical condition. He's hiding. Because HE stole an NS-4 and he KNOWS that Spector and the dealer knows. But heck. He's admitted it here to several of you. He's tried to pass it off as some mistake. But it's still not resolved.

He has been dishonest about too many things, the details of which are not anyone's business and I cannot discuss because the option to file criminal charges against him is still alive. That's all I can say.

I'm sorry if the guy is REALLY suffering from some neurological disorder. But I personally have seen first-hand the waist-deep creek of bull he has spewed and I choose not to believe anything he says.

But I digress. He STOLE a Spector from a Spector Dealer and IT TURNS MY STOMACH that he's still trying to con people in this forum.

As far as Chris is concerned. He was my friend. And I miss him. And I have NO DOUBT that he would be pretty furious about the turn of events with Steve. That if he knew some of the things Steve has pulled... or tried to pull... he'd be very angry.

Again, not to push the rules of this forum too far. But Chris knows the deal. I have no doubt he's seen the truth about Steve and it disgusted me to think of Chris's name being used in the same sentence as Steve's name.

Please refrain from doing that any more.

You guys want to think he's great. Fine. He sends you gifts. Talks to you on the phone and cons you in. Makes you feel sorry for him. That's fine. But do not let him manipulate you into doing his dirty work here by manipulating you into arguing his point for him.

It will be a cold day before I let this go. And he knows it. He can't defend himself to those who were there and know what he did and knows what he admitted to. But the rest of you?
