I think both look great Brad. Nice choice on the fingerboard. ;) My preference on finish is always high gloss (except in black). I know it's pricey and it will change the tone so it's totally up to you.

First, the REDDI is going to be a keeper I think. Just playing through it for 10 minutes with the Webster into my Mackie and headphones - you can hear harmonic content there for sure that you don't get with other stuff. I have to do some serious head to head comparisons between it, the U5 and the RBI and see how they sit in the mix. But I think the REDDI is going to win. Which means the U5 (and possibly the RBI) are going to move. I also have a Sansamp RPM I've been hanging on to which gives a cool vintage type sound. But I might not need it.

Second, speaking of the Webster, now that I have my two new US XL builds (and the Coda I wasn't planning on), I am thinking now is the time for it to move. It's a very tough choice, but outside of the midrange control, I don't think it can offer me anything the 6XL can't. And I like the 18v better than the BQC. The Webster sounds fantastic and I have grown used to it over the last year, but it just doesn't make sense to keep it when I have these new builds sitting here.

Another reason to move it, I might....*might* have a build I want to do this year rather than next. I've been thinking about it for a while. It would basically be close to a US bolt-on version of the Rebop5-MM, so single MM, BEM board, black pearl inlays, and probably transparent black gloss. So yeah, the 5-string bolt-on MM version of the Black Pearl. :) I'm tempted to get a TonePump in it rather than the OBP-3 since I liked how the Rebop version sounds. This would be kind of a Spector replacement for my trusty old black and maple SR5 H. I am a sucker for a black bass.

From what I can tell (Patrick or someone help me out), the bridge pickup on a dual MM NS bolt-on looks to be in about the same position as it would be on some of the single MM's I've seen. So I'm hoping that when I get my bolt-on fretless, I can solo the bridge pickup and get an idea of what it would sound like (minus frets of course :)).

Or maybe I should pay some bills. Nah.... :hiding:

Your going to have to put us together a list of all the stuff you are going to sell Bunk, as soon as you make a decision on what your going to cut from the rig and bass collection...you sure do have a lot of cool pre/DI stuff thats for sure!

I think it probably goes to show how susceptible I am to gushing about any particular product. :)

The Sansamp stuff is really good. I probably should have went straight to the REDDI when I bought the U5, but much like when I bought my Bongo 5 over getting a Euro 5LX, I decided to spend a little less, and then eventually came around to the other thing anyway.

Between all the solo material I have and the expectation we will start tracking for the new record as early as next spring, I just want to be settled in to one method of recording bass by then. So I've been trying as much different stuff as I can. Hopefully I'm near the end of the line here. :)

Thanks for all the comments guys! I appreciate the ideas and devil's advocates!

...I may have stumbled across a Kramer era NS-2 (with new US 9V pre) restore/refin project, so I'm considering just going with standard options on the BO 5MM and use the extra money to put towards purchasing the project bass! :bassist:

I modded a NS-2A to BEAD, didn't have to file the bridge at all but I ordered a custom brass nut to fit the strings.

Speaking of nuts...(again, Beavis laugh), do you guys think having a nut slot widened to accommodate a 150 string would cause problems if you went back to say a 130 or 136?

I ask because I had been using my red 5LX as a standard A bass, and the nut on that actually took the bigger strings without having to be modified. Now that it looks like I will be moving that soon, I was thinking of setting up the blue 5XL for the same tuning. I'm not sure if the nut slots are wide enough though. I want to be able to use the bass in standard B again if necessary, and I'd prefer to not have to change nuts out to do so.

My understanding is, the width of the slot is really not important, but the height is. So if I just file off the sides of the slot a bit to let a wider string, when I put a 136 back on, it would be the same height, but would just have more room on the sides in the nut slot. Does that make sense?

Hey guys, my US18V pre is going into my 435LX this week. I need to "fill the hole" with something that is spare. I was going to put a toggle switch that could be wired up as a kill switch (but may just be a dummy switch to fill the hole). I know it was posted recently, but what is the hole size on a Euro? I want to get something that will fit without adjustments.

I know this was covered recently but what are everyone's thoughts on the 9v to 18v mod on the TP? I liked it on the Aggie pre's so I'm guessing it would similarly rule on the tone pump. Discuss. :bassist:

Question for you guys. I need to sell my Spector to pay off some financing that's eating me alive. If you were to sell an 06 ReBop 5DLX with a few minor dings, an 18V Non-trim TP, EMG 40J pickups and a Gator hardshell case, what would you feel would be a reasonable list price?

Have you thought about just putting a dummy pot in the empty hole for aesthetics? I'm not sure what the hole diameter is for Euros.

I had a 09 ReBop 5DLX in excellent condition, with trim TP, without hardshell case that I sold 2 years ago for $675...it would've been $800 with case but the guy was local and had a case for it. I'd say maybe ask $650-800. GLWS! :)

Thanks, Ice. So, my asking price of $700 is reasonable, then? I'm only asking because I've had no hits locally. Next plan was to come onto TB, but I'm always leery of being scammed by people in the classifieds abusing PayPal.

I'm waiting for my Rex 5 which is supposed to be here on the 12th but may also be looking for a Rebop 5 in the near future. Would love to keep the bass in the club if possible! Talk to me if you decide to post it on TB, maybe we can work something out!

That bass sounds incredible :bassist: Probably the number one bass on my GAS list now is a black cherry us bolt on 5 with a single MM pickup in the bridge. If a 34" scale was an option on that bass I might have to start moving gear to fund it...
