SPECTOR® Club - Part 69

Hey guys, it's been a whole since I've been on here, but I made an offer on a black zebop, but it has a cracked neck, it's an easy fix, but I just don't know if I should do it. Thoughts?

Hopefully the attachment works....

This is the other side of the neck

It's a toss of the coin, I mean you've got to have confidence in the guy doing the repair but if he does it correctly then its could last. I would send these pictures to [email protected] and have him quote the work or quote a neck replacement.

So I've been working on that progressive stuff I was writing before, I switched the intro over to bass (because Spector) removed some three handed drumming and added a little more buildup to it. The rest is currently being written and recorded, and is going very well so far. I also mixed it better this time :) Constructive criticism is more than welcome ;)

Uuhh, just thought, if anyone wants a bass only version, just shout :D

Very cool Kyle. Sorry it took so long for me to listen.

I've seen that ReBop on eBay for quite awhile...considering the damage and what the used market is, $650 is WAY too much...I'd go $400 or less...

My guitarist had this exact break in his Les Paul and it was fixed and better than ever now. Still, cracked necks are nasty business.

$400 is the mark that I was being offered for my ReBop5 a few months ago. I'd go lower.

If he would do $300, I'd take the body & slap a new neck on it, or have my luthier buddy do up a custom neck. :D Probably cheaper than a good repair.

I have a guy, he does amazing work. I'm not worried about the repair, just wondering what I should pay for the bass. The repair cost is a non issue.

The value of the bass probably should drop more than the cost of repair because you might have trouble selling it to someone else (using the examples of everyone who has commented about this type of damage), I would reduce the price by the amount of a neck replacement and if you decide to fix the neck then your up the difference and you can always fall back to that in case you have to replace it at a later time....just a suggestion!

so on Fri I ordered some Dunlop fretboard cleaner/conditioner from musiciansfriend and a set of strings from Jason at bassstringsonline.com.

The strings shipped from Santa Clarita, CA and arrived today. The cleaner shipped from Memphis and is not scheduled to be here until tomorrow or Wed. ...I live in NASHVILLE! :D

long story short...if anyone is needing strings, don't hesitate to order from bassstringsonline!!!

Got my quote from Todd. Very knowledgeable guy! He even tipped me off to the US neck being thicker than my Euro, he recommended the old Kramer neck profile as it is closer to my Euro (which is just about perfect). Been enjoyable chatting with him about this stuff.

Todd is great. I got the "Kramer neck treatment" on my NS-5 and it's perfect. Getting it on my NS-2 also.

Sweet! It's always a good time talking with Todd! I'm planning to go thru Tulsa on my move to the left coast next fall, just to stop in and visit! :bassist:

Hey everyone, this is not Spector specific, so If anyone would like I'll delete it - but just in case anyone is interested - I'm selling a bit of stuff due to an upcoming move and some subsequent housecleaning - if anyone is interested in anything I have posted please let me know, I'm just cleaning out my storage unit now so anything I'm not keeping or moving will probably find it's way onto the classifieds if I can't move it quickly around here. There may, and probably will be, a fair bit more stuff coming over the next week or two - as always there's a club price.
Thanks, and here's the first thing to go that I unearthed:

Thanks, and now back to your regularly scheduled programming :bassist:

I'm having my first lesson with Roy Vogt on Thursday. It'll be the first time I've had someone sit in front of me and critique my playing like this in a LONG time...I'm extremely nervous, yet extremely excited!

Here's to progress! (takes shot of vodka!) :D

You are so lucky you are local to him. He seems like a great teacher since there is a section in "Teach Me Bass Guitar" where he is explaining something to a guy that never really picked up a bass before and he got him playing the part quickly.

Let us know when you are done with the lesson and good luck. He really knows his stuff.

Todd probably knows every inch of these basses, he dialed in my Spector when I stopped in for a visit and it plays great....He just knew what I needed as he watched me play! Todd will assist you in creating your own work of art that fits you and meets your specifications....and....I want to see your progress!!!!
