SPECTOR® Club - Part 70

So I just picked up a q4pro. Not near as nice as most of the axes in this thread, but it will be a big improvement over what it's replacing.

Any thing I should be on the lookout for when it arrives? Common problems etc? I have done a few searches but not a ton comes up. Any common things people like to swap out on these? Pups? Preamps etc?

Congratulations on your newly acquired Spector Q4 Pro and welcome to our Spector family!:hyper::bassist::)

I've heard nothing but great things of the Q4 Pro. Some here have or had them, they'll be able to help you. I hope it'll be a great bass for you and you'll enjoy it for years to come. BTW, you'll be wanting more...it's our S.A.S. Here. :rollno: :D

Jeff that sure is a great looking bass.

Thanks Donny. I am so grateful to have been able to swing two USA builds this year. I have, or will, sell all my basses (except my Modulus Q5) and extra unused equipment to make it happen.

But I'm set up now. What more do I need? An NS-5XL and an NS-2 should cover anything. I've got a wireless transmitter for each of them for fast swaps mid set. Mono dual bass gig bag. Let's ROCK! :bassist:

Hey guys, we got our new music video done. I'm really stoked about it, I can't share the actual link because it is being premiered with a magazine (online) but I uploaded it to my personal page (low quality) so you guys can get a look the day before our release. Please don't share this on any social media. I hope you all enjoy it.

Yes! That's great Donny. Rockin' Jade! Let me know when I can share and I'll put it on my FB page.

I didn't know you had a Marshall stack! ;)

Hey all,

Looking at buying some kind of spector in the near future. My budget is $1000 (I'm selling my SVT to pay for this) and it must meet the following criteria:

Neck Thru
EMG active pickups (Humbuckers or P/J)
Gold hardware (Unless it's a white bass)
That wonderful inlay
Haz Pre

Any ideas? I want a Euro but I would highly prefer a NS5CRFM or NS4CRFM. I don't care if it's a 4 or a 5.

Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Pills

For a value priced import bass like a Q4, you will never realize any "value" out of your proposed upgrade. In other words, you'll end up spending more than the bass is worth on the secondary market, and you run the risk that you won't like the upgrade. Better to sell it and put the proceeds towards a higher end model with components you are interested in trying. May sound like unsound advice, but take it from someone who has been on the path you describe many times before and has learned from the "experience".
+1:bassist:
You could always save up for a Coda or one of the Euro JJ basses that go for sale every once in a while here. I've had the latter and it's quite punchy.
This^:bassist:

You wont find a Haz for $1000 but a TonePump will sound close.

Adam is right on this one... you could grab a Euro (non LX) or CRFM with a tonepump and it will sound really close
