I can't tell you enough how much I love that bass man! My jazzes are collecting dust anymore!

Yup, I had a really nice Victor Bailey Sig model Jazz V when I bought my first Spector, a Euro 5LX, and I never touched it again.

Look who came to my little Toys for Tots benefit gig tonight. None other than the HoMeister! Good seeing you Ho....sorry I had to split. How was the last band?

All good my brother. Seeing and hearing your new bass was the highlight of the night. I love playing Spectors, but I also love hearing them in the hands of really great players, which is definitely the case with Lee. He's a bass players bass player. Solid, supportive, non BS approach to the instrument. His Walnut bass is one amazing piece of craftsmanship. Pretty much perfect. The neck is one of the best I've ever felt. The profile is like money in a Swiss bank. I generally prefer thin necks, but the C shape on this is so right that I would not want to alter it. It sounded so good out front. Lee said the mix onstage sucked, but out front it was just great. Me and my wife had a great time. After Lee's band played, next up were some young guys who played Neo pop punk. They were excellent. The young bassist was a Stingray man. Sounded great, but Lee smoked him! The Spector just sounded tighter, more focused. Which is saying a lot considering Stingrays are, in general, really good basses. Lee, we had a fantastic time. One more shot, this one is a little clearer.

Sorry! I just saw this. Actually I got a Legacy Elite - custom maple top with the composite neck. An awesome bass.

Bart pups - humbuckers. And seriously... it's a mean machine. I'm totally loving it so far.

Makes me think... what if someone was to do a carbon-fiber/composite neck for a Spector bolt-on?

Or even better yet... how about a neck-thru NS-Bass in all carbon-fiber - making it headless...

Slap a Steinberger licensed headless bridge system on it... and it'd be perfect... a Steinberger and Spector merging.

Something to ponder.

Cool, thanks John! I was quite surprised to see the fret lines wrap around the FB edge, which make intonation pretty easy. I played for over an hour today, completely loving it! I hope you'll be getting another fretless soon...there's magic in a fretless. I love the way each note literally vibrates up your finger and thru your body. Haha And Finger vibrato is amazing! (Side Picture of neck showing fret lines)



No problem with edge lines E on fret 7 of string A is one of my main octave E's also on my Coda 5XL also. Oh it's not a hobby...I'll be playing it for Christmas Sunday morning service next weekend. If my new strings, GHS Precision Flats of course, come in by Tuesday I'll be playing it for my Tue. night gig. I was surprised when I checked intonation that only the B string needed a very slight adjustment.

Sounds like a fretless bass is a great fit for you....oh, the dots on a lined fretless are center position but you will be able to tell....have fun!

The Legacy is a very nice looking bass Patrick! A very beautiful rack of axes!
I just picked up my first fretless bass and I'm loving playing, hearing and the feeling of being more part of the bass as a whole! It's a Ibanez SR375F. Though it's made in Indonesia, the craftsmanship is remarkable.

Sounds like a fretless bass is a great fit for you....oh, the dots on a lined fretless are center position but you will be able to tell....have fun!

Thanks Carey...I have a feeling, for now anyways, that fretless is going to dominate my playing time. The kiss of seal was when I was playing the Chris Tomlin song,"Healing is in Your Hands", I played some vibrato, oooooh MaMa! Deep to the soul I'll be doing a lot of wood shedding this week.

Hey everyone...Mark Sharp from Hanser got back with me on the pricing of a NEW Fretless neck for the Legend 5. $225.00 plus shipping. Not bad at all, a great price IMHO. I can see a Legend 5 with a fretless neck in my near future. There's quite the difference in price between the Legend and ReBop necks. Mark is also checking on availability of an Ebony FB on a fretless neck, as I requested.

On a side note...Now don't laugh okay...me and the Mrs. was watching the movie,"The Red Violin", last night and I noticed that the violin luthier placing 2 very small ruby gem stones or blood diamonds probably, inset into the headstock sides of the red violin. I told my wife wouldn't that be cool to inset different color small gem stones into either the fingerboard fret marker dots or the side dot fret markers. My wife thought it'd be pretty cool looking. FWIW

An old NT legacy elite is on the bucket list. And a zon scepter. He makes some great basses.

A fretless neck for the legend sounds sweet! And affordable! If your hooked of fretless you need to try a pedulla MVP Penta buzz. IMO the way Spector is the holy grail of bass tone, pedulla is the holy grail of fretless.

I know Danny Gatton had some CZ's put in at the position markers. I've given some serious thought on doing this to my basses, because a lot of them don't have any stage lighting around here, and they're not big enough to put trussing around...

So I just picked up the Trailight album off bandcamp finally (I forget, was it Seventh who did this project? Sorry my memory is terrible) after being plugged in here for a while.

Definitely some good driving music. With holidays coming up I will be doing plenty of driving so this will get some play

Yes... an ebony fingerboard with no lines or dots. Pick up a gently used Legend and slap that on. I could handle that!

you guys gotta stop talking about Spector fretless basses lol. I jammed on a fretless (fender) at BPL and I enjoyed it… I bet a legend fretless would be a lot of fun.

HUMMM....wonder what a 4 string neck would run, great plan to put together a nice fretless bass.

Fretless is a very natural sounding effect plus it's great learning the new method/textures.
