Am I the only one that seems to prefer 35 inch scale basses? I admit, I am a bit taller than the normal person (6'3") so my hands might be a bit bigger but they seem to be more comfortable to me.

I don't want this to get into a 34 vs 35 inch scale battle or debate but I do see a bunch of posts with people claiming they can't handle the different scale length.

I saw that concert on TV. It looked to me like he split his time evenly between spectors and warwicks.

Was that on Palladia? I have only seen a few Youtube clips but would love to see the whole show.

Just out of curiosity has ANYONE replaced the TP in a Euro with a USA circuit??? I'm very interested to know how sounds since the the wood is different in the newer Euros. I'm very tempted to try with my Euro 4LX, but i'm wanting to actually throw it in my "new to me" CR4FM since it is all maple.

WOW! That is a serious sweet tone he has in those clips.

I believe Chrisloe just installed a US 9V Hazlab pre in his Doug Wimbish Euro and was happy with the results.

Ok he is nice guy respect to him and I like watching his videos before and now. But I dont understand how he can talk about Spector as great company, basses, employees and now after few moths he went to company which copies Spector basses and he talks the same now about Warwick.
And I am sure that Spector can make bass with 34 scale and broather neck just for him.

John that's great, i can play a 35 scale but i'm average in height and i do not have long fingers I am considering getting a NS5 made next year If Stewart will do it, I wasn't the ns5 to be 34 scale and two EMG j pickups and HAZ LAB 9volt Like the Ns5 in the Kramer days. The Kramer Ns5 do not show up very often(understatement!) This is what i want in my dream Spector. I can play 35,but I would rather pay extra and get a 34

Couple months ago Andrew Irvine said how the Spector basses are the best and many more... look on youtube for Andrew Irvine videos with his beloved Spectors.
Now I see that Warwicks money can buy everyone.I am so dissapointed because I saw that.

I was actually was on facebook when his post came up that he was leaving Spector and joining Warwick. I was shocked and disapointed but I figured it did have to do with them supporting his clinics overseas, just as diechris confirmed. Give him a year. He may be back in a Spector uniform. When Warwick decides to clone him and sends that guy out for clinics instead of him. (ok, may have been a bad joke) but you get my point. P.S. he looks much better with a Euro 5LX in his hands then the Warwick.

I do miss the 35" scale that was on my ReBop vs. the 34" on my NS-95 SSD. The B was sonically lower and I liked the spacing just fine! I'm 6'-2" and have large hands. No problems reaching comfortably!

I've always played 34 inch scale basses. I really don't notice the difference with my Euro5LX. Your mileage may vary though.

Love His tone, love that White Spector! A little weird seeing their guitar player playing a (I Think) Eddie Van Halen Music man, just doesn't seem to fit him.

I have made this switch to the USA Circuit in my Euro Doug Wimbish Signature, just haven't had a lot of time to play with it, but it seems from the little time I have spent with it that it is warmer, and I just like how it sounds better. I don't have a American NS-2 to compare it to but so far so good, very happy with it.

It is available in plain black without the blooddrip.
Although the blooddrip makes the bass look even more amazing.

Either the List price went up on the Alex Webster model or it was mistake when originally listed?

When it was first listed in the new arrivals area, as it still shows:

My short arms aren't loving the 35" scale. But, after warming up and repositioning the bass more to the right of my body, it's all good. I have no problem stretching my fingers for frets - my span is quite good - but my arms? LOL If there's a song in F - on a 35" scale - that's tough for me - I learned the bassline to Bonin' In The Boneyard by Fishbone on my 4 banger years ago - I tried to play it on my 5er recently - not pretty. LOL

Inez has SPECTORs, and still does to my knowledge. He is a Warwick artist now and as part of his agreement isn't seen playing anything but Wicks... but listen to the growl of some of his studio stuff... although the Wicks are shaped in an obviously familiar manner, they are not tonally like SPECTORs. Woods, pups, circuits... they sound different.

Not totally true, he still uses his SSD era cherry burst NS-2 a lot on tour. Tends to be a rotation of that, his silverburst Streamer and the Warwick Dolphin. Definitely different sounding instruments though, exactly as ya said. He must've just gotten a more convincing endorsement deal from Warwick

Not to sound negative, but you guys are taking this a little too seriously. People do have changes of heart and like to move on to other brands than Spector, even well known long time endorsees. Sure, Warwick are known for copying the NS, but those basses are still well built and still sound good. I'll also point out that Ibanez have taken some influence from the NS, incorporating the back contour to some of their higher end SR series.

It's not compromise, it's choice. I say enjoy your gear, but keep an open mind yeah?

Why not play it on the B string on the 6th fret?

I'm a big guy and 35 inch scale does not bother me...I actually like it even though my main bass is a 34 inch scale right now.

Because I'm a big guy I'm worried about that signature Spector bass body looking small on me.

Scale has little to do with the reach. It is entirely dependent on the design of the bass and the distance between the upper horn (or strap point) and the nut. As I recall from this forum, the distance from the strap button to the nut is the same on both 34" and 35" Spector basses - the difference being that the bridge is moved back 1" on the 35" models. This is why the last fret access on the 35" models is so poor - it's moved away from the cut away, toward the bridge. A 34" Spector will have the same reach at the lower frets.

I have several other 35" basses with the distance from the nut to the strap button designed to be the same as a Fender P or J bass. Those basses are absolutely as easy and comfortable to reach as my P and J basses. The Spector is not as short a reach, but it's really not a big deal whatsoever.

@lowfreqfeek - Maybe it's psychological? I 'feel' like I'm straining more when playing my 5er. Also, I'm getting fatter with age, which pushes the bass further away from my body, lol.

@madbassplaya - some of the licks for that song use the open strings, or, rather, I use the open strings - the challenge would be to figure out the same line, 'reconstructed' for playing on the 6th fret of the B string. I think I'll do that! As far as how the bass looks on a bigger/taller person - I think that was one of the initial things about Spector that appealed to me. It 'fit' me.
