Had mine since June. No mods. It hasn't fallen apart, and I still like it, though I generally stick with one preamp setting - bridge pickup only, bass/treble flat, mids up all the way.

I'm very interested in what this sounds like. I don't need you to post clips but I'd like to know how the tone has changed.

i'm not very good at describing tone. but to my ears it sounds way better than it did with the stock active unit. i can't even compare it with another jazz tone,, as this is the only jazz that i've owned.. the best i can say is it now as a natural, warm, organic, passive tone ,, it's got the tone that the stock active circuit lacked.

the Big Singles do sound very similar to the Fat Stacks that I have in my Peavey Grind.

very pleased with how it turned out, i finished it up last tuesday, & played a gig with it that nite, with my LMKII & Avatar Neo's. very satisfied with the tone

it'll be my go-to 5'er

Boosted mids. Same here, but with the slap switch up, and bass pot dialed in according to mood. Someone said earlier "not quite the Jaco burp". That's true, but mid-boost/bridge pup is as ballpark as you can get. For a dedicated slapping tone, I even out the pick-up pan. We'll see how that works in a mix.

For three bills, I'm suitably impressed. It's very playable, and has enough tone control to be useful. The plating on the bridge is better than on my MIK Jazz 24, and the only fit/finish/function issue is the sloppy tuner on the B-string. It holds tune well enough, though.

I considered defretting the thing, but I like it too much as is. Now I'm thinking of another in white, and picking one for the fretless project...

These remind me very much of the DeArmond/Guild Pilot basses. Especially about the neck dimensions that you guys have mentioned. I say this because that's what my first 5 string was. Whenever i go back and play it-the spacing feels incredibly wide compared to my Ray5.
