I recently tried a 4 string Special single H. Felt great and sounded great and tempted me a little!

When I ordered the bass I couldn't decide on the finish so I went with the classic natural. I'm glad I did!

Where did you get your pickguard from? I've gotten several pick guards from WDMusic, except for the clear pick guard that came on my Mike Lull bass. It's Teal with beautiful woodgrain under the pickguard and I didn't want to cover that up.

I may have mentioned this earlier, but I let that bass go and when I saw it for sale recently, I recognized the pick guard. So I checked on it and all the details add up. Very happy to have it back!

WDMusic? That's where I purchased a clear Stingray pickguard this year- no tracing, a standard one, made to order. Great packing and product from them!

I'm offered in Germany a SR5 20th anniversary (quilted maple - not flamed) for a reasonable price~2000$. I've seen some with matching headstock (mostly rosewood boards) and some with pure maple headstock. There's also one for sale in the Netherlands with flamed top and matching headstock (similar price)
Here come the quiz questions:
Is the SR5 20th significantly better than the regular SR5?
Does anyone know why EBMM produced the 20th with different headstock?
Would the SR5 complement my other EBNM (Bongo HS5 & H5, BigAl-5) in terms of sound?

Both the maple and the rosewood board are H (I also read the article by Rex)

While that's pretty subjective, I can say that the 20th is without a doubt the best sounding of the 3 I have. I don't know all the reasons why, however, I imagine the "tweaked" preamp and the mahogany tone block have a lot to do with it. It also features a cutaway 5 bolt neck like the current Specials. The newer Special gets all the gigs these days because it only weighs 8lbs and the 20th is 10.3lbs. The 20th will come out now and then for short shows. It just sounds so good.

I reduced my GAS for the SR5 20TH - 5kg (11lbs) is just too much for me playing 2 hours +. But now I have a negotiation over a 2004 weigh8ng 4,4kg (10lbs) - here you go:

I've been lucky enough to hold (and then play a song with) Tony Levin's "Barbie Flesh" bass - yes, the one that started this thread!
