I took my ex to children of bodem... Totally not my number one choice of evenings out.
If smoking was free, didn't cause cancer, and didn't make me sound weezey on the mic I'd have a whole pack in my mouth right now

Hang in there fight the good fight. Speaking of my buddy loves these cigars that are only mad ein Scranton PA, Parodi's and he loves the anise flavored ones, so I was putting them in ziploc bags till I see him and Micah saw me with them and he said Joe those are for losers, lol, I said they aren't mine. I have to sneak the occasional clove cigarette I have, love the taste of those buggers, but they are an extremely rare treat for me.
The venue they played at had some monkey on the mixing console. All bass drum and mud. Couldnt even hear the guitar solos.
Oh man, that sucks when that happens, so noticeable when you see the same band in different venues too. The Norva in Norfolk Virginia is notorious for that, suppsoed to be desigend specifically for music, so not sure if they built it wrong or they have the worst sound crew ever but every show I caught there were no mids to speak of. I can't imagine the bands not screaming their heads off at the guys on the board.
Ya same here....constantly have to clean up after them. Hard for us to say anything because we are the new guys but they leave their gear up and trash the place. One of the guitar players for the other band bought a bunch of brand new pedals and just left the boxes, wrappers, and some of the pedals just laying around. I just kicked it into a pile and out of my way. Sucks because we have to set up and tear down except for drums every practice but its either that or no practice at all since there just isnt anywhere to jam around here.
Going to see the Meat Puppets this Friday.
I have seen other shows at the same venue that sounded great. Just the guy they had running sound that night.

I'm all over the place when it comes to music I listen to and enjoy. Most of it isn't really heavy, but I like to draw inspiration from music that isn't heavy and then bring those aspects and ideas into writing instrumental doom.
In other news, I got my '66 yesterday.
Looks great, arrived safely, but unfortunately I only got to plug into it for about 3 minutes, just long enough to test it was functional, but no real tweaking or judgment of how the cab sounds.
I can say I could feel the low end kicking much harder than I do with my Bergs, it was very clear and powerful, also really showed off how dead my strings were after our last show. I've got practice later tonight, so I can give it a proper run through, I'm sure I'll be writing more about it later tonight, or at the latest tomorrow.
Finally have the cab in my possession and still can't play it...torture.

Yeah, I realized why I've seen that statement a bunch on the GB forums when I flipped on my sunn. Sounded absolutely nothing like my normal bass tone. I'm gonna start with everything off and flat and work from there.
Thats a good place to start. For me when I am trying out a new amp I set everything "flat" then I cut each frequency on its own. Gives me a feel for tone. I use very little boost in my eq with the '66.

There is so much more presence in the lows and highs with the '66. You dont have to push the cab to fill those areas, but depending on the tone you want you might have to pull some back a bit.
