There is so much more presence in the lows and highs with the '66. You dont have to push the cab to fill those areas, but depending on the tone you want you might have to pull some back a bit.

That makes a lot of sense, as the couple minutes I got to have it plugged, it was getting a ton of lows, and highs, but not much inbetween them.

So excited to get to practice tonight and mess around with it for a few hours. Also with the band...and ugh, why isn't it the evening yet?

Have our first full band practice tonight for the first time in over a month. Have our show with Lo-Pan and Borracho on Thursday. Glad we'll be able to get back into the swing of playing consistently again.

Just remember if you are using a fender style tone stack, dime your mids or you are introducing a huge scoop. Man... if only we had an amp wizard that had done a huge write up on all of that....

The fEARful "sound" comes across different to different people. What you are missing is the traditional midbass hump nearly all bass cabs have. Depending on your eq you should be able to bump up 100Hz~250 and get something familiar. Within that range you'll find what i think of as the signature of different cabs lowend. Boomy boxy tight all in there play around.
The same can be accomplished with cuts of course just depends on what sounds best with what you got to work with.

My rig for our album release show last night. Dunno if I sounded better, but I definitely felt like a better bassist standing in front of this monster.

I'm really not the biggest lotr nerd, I watched a documentary on Tolkien. I love fantasy stuff, but I found the documentary incredibly interesting. It's amazing how much detail he put in his universe. Tolkien was a linguist and created written and spoken languages for every culture in the book that are technically "real". As for the stories, they are just fantastic retellings of his own life. He lived in a peaceful farm town like the shire, that got leveled for factories and train depots, then he got shipped to the trenches of France where he was faced with the modern nightmares of the battlefield like tanks (trolls).

Still trying to wrap my ahead around these Green Machines for Grown Ups, so on a Fearful amp set flat the mids are scooped? So is a Bassic better for Mids. I live for Mids, I hate treble, but I know these amps are killer and probably just EQ tweaks to get what you want. Just been kicking the thought of a 12/6, 5/6, or Single 12 or 15, I know I need to check out a dealer and play them all, but like the thought of portability and am enthralled by the hype, the inner Lemming is tempting me to jump off the Green Cliff next tax season or sooner lol.

Therefore when you get a fearful you pay more attention to the mids, because for once the low end is largely taken care of by good design?

My typical Eq'ung is treble 0% mids 100% and bass 50-100% perhaps ill be ok.

No the fEARful cabs are not scooped at all. They are damn near close to flat. Most bass amps have a built in mid scoop when set "flat". So you just need to re-think your eq as the cab is going to present your sound in a way you are not used to.

This is part of it. The best practice is to ignore where the eq knobs are set, just turn them until they sound good.

Eq is going to varry from amp to amp. For me with my pair of 12/6/1's and my PF-500 I have the bass and trebble flat, none of the ultra switches in, and the mid selector on "1", mid knob somewhere aroune 3-4 o'clock. Add into that that I dime the mid knob on my sting ray.

I was trying to check out some youtube videos of P90s equipped guitars since a lot of you guys said they are the favorite ones your guitarists play but man damnt hose things were ice picky or the guys really set their amps for bitey treble I guess that is what makes that bridge pup crunch so much though. So far I think I dig the sound of Strats and Mini Humbucker pups the best. The wheel is spinning for a Baritone partscaster project, lol.

Yeah the extent of that Middle Earth World Tolkien built I guess to call it was immense, I tried to read the Silmarillion after I read the Hobbit and LOTR when I was like 19 and I guess I wasn"t ready for it, felt like I was reading a textbook.
