Just remember if you are using a fender style tone stack, dime your mids or you are introducing a huge scoop. Man... if only we had an amp wizard that had done a huge write up on all of that....

Sure you can. You just have to sacrifice your bass and treble. And then get a 66.

Those mid hating bastardos :scowl: My Traynor controls are cut only, does that mean I escaped the mids already being cut?
2/10/2 sounds like crap IMO which is what your referring to. i dont think Ron can accept that tone. Course you could preboost it with a mid boost to offset that, active mid range control

i think FMV is a useless EQ, i mean you dont really much adjustment of bass or treble while the mids can only be less cut at maximum but then again I play guitar, we occupy different worlds

Well its just an RCA stock EQ. Like so many "standards" in the MI industry it was just a simple design that worked well enough.
I'm a big Leo-phile but I don't pretend that he stayed up late at night slaving over EQ designs. His passion was pickups.
But...it's the sound that I'm used to hearing.

Maybe this can provide some contrast...the 66 is anything but mid shy...I always cut a fair amount of mids with that cab...thing is, any cab that can put out such massive lows may require some mid boosting just because the lows are covering everything up

When you tune to low low low low low low low low G I'm surprised EQ works at all. You should have a graphic EQ that's labeled per BNVPSM's.
Or...Brown Note Victims Per Square Mile.
Im just giving my opinion after building amps over time, with most of them having James/Bax instead of FMV. The recent 200W with an FMV just reinforced that idea of why I like them more. Now, there is one nice thing that you cant get crappy sounds out of that EQ really, since it has limited range while the james/bax can put an amp into blocking given how much bass it can swing around

Agreed. I guess you can use the FAC to avoid blocking right? Or does it just build up to much in the later stages?
its useful if ur getting the amp for distortion not so useful when you run the amp clean
Hes in F. Im in G for a few songs and even that is tough to get weight behind haha.
Pretty sure their is no electricity in Mumford land, you might have to work with ropes, black powder or an old fashioned white lightning moonshine binge to off yourself.
Yup, when the amp is sad, I am glad. I don't use p90's but I love my esquire and it's texas special pickup, when it was a full tele with both texas special, and had series switching it was a beast as well. The tele TS pickup really beefs up the classic tele tone without losing what makes it great. The flat wounds really help tame the ice pick and still keep that tele twang as well (this is essentially a bastard hybrid of luther perkins and merle haggards teles). That classic 30 stack seldom gets use since I never have it with me, but I can't see myself selling such a nice setup.

I tried out for band that tuned so low bass was useless. They ended up replacing a bass player with a full stack for the kick drum.
Yup, when the amp is sad, I am glad. I don't use p90's but I love my esquire and it's texas special pickup, when it was a full tele with both texas special, and had series switching it was a beast as well. The tele TS pickup really beefs up the classic tele tone without losing what makes it great. Nice Esquire and Classic 30 stack! I have that Peavey Reactor that is very nice and I do like it a lot, I put a Twang King Dimarzio in the neck for a bit more Strat sound out of it, the stock neck was way too much mud, the stock bridge is a great tele pup that does great with fuzz and dirt too. I need to try flats again, good idea. I have fallen for that Korean Squire II as my go to guitar, and trying to bond with the Aria but I have them all listed for sale in an if they go they go if they stay they stay mode, I like to tinker too much and try new guitars too much to have many keepers, the only true keepers are some pedals, and the Waterstone bass, and the Fender Champ 600. Tele bodies with Strat headstocks with with interesting pups will be my next tinkering and if I like that setup then a baritone neck is the next tinkering.
