You have no idea how much a traditional cab hides until you can open an amp up into one of these.

Oh I am not defending Varg or his beliefs. Maybe it is unimportant but I just find it odd that articles keep referring to him as a Neo-Nazi. Why not just call him nationalist extremist or something like that?

Yeah the racial separation thing never made sense to me because the cat is out of the bag. Norway is one of the most homogeneous countries in the world which makes sense how someone like Varg could fool himself into thinking that racial separation is somehow possible.

I'm not clear on this, you ran it by itself? One cab as opposed to you were used to running am nv215 &an nv610?

Well at the same settings they sound nothing alike, however if I set up the EQ to be similar between the two the Berg is definitely quieter at the same volume setting, and has nowhere near the amount of low end that the '66 can produce. The berg has this low-mid punch that I haven't recreated yet, but I know with some more messing with EQ I can get it, just ran out of time at practice last night.

Once everything was sorted they liked it, super impressed by the amount of low end and volume it could produce. I'm excited to practice again now that I got things set up correctly, I can spend more time dialing it in exactly.

I was running the Sunn into the '66 by itself, with the volume around 5 (on the dial)

I used to run the Sunn into both NV610 and NV215, with the volume on 3.

I never had to turn it up louder than 3 with the two berg cabs, so that could be why I never ran into clipping before.

But in my other band I would run the Sunn into just the NV610with the volume around 3/4 and never had any issues with clipping.

It's a little early to tell, I do know it gets stupid loud. I feel like it could probably replace the old 610/215 setup. I need more time to mess around and tweak settings before I can really tell.

Also I might need to have the band play full volume just to make sure it can handle everything. Considering I was throwing a ton of power at it and it just didn't seem to care I think I can make it work. Much more testing is required though.

i can relate to this. finally gave up on starting new projects, accumulated a ton of parts until realized that nothing i build will be as good as what i already have.

had a fun show with the new band last saturday. made me realize how much of a drag my last band was.

a bit annoyed though that these young bucks (around 25ish) went and booked a show for this coming Monday night. monday gigs are bad enough but now im gonna miss the Melvins which is the same night. gah
