Well it's all just rounding off. An 8 ohm cab would read anywhere between 7.2-9 ohms. This number will fluctuate while applying and signal through the speakers also. Some heads are ok with being mismatched a bit some aren't.

Well it's all just rounding off. An 8 ohm cab would read anywhere between 7.2-9 ohms. This number will fluctuate while applying and signal through the speakers also. Some heads are ok with being mismatched a bit some aren't.
Someone mentioned this awhile back, and I had the same thought, if you wire 4 of them in series and 2 in parallel, would each speaker be getting the same amount of juice? Wouldn't the 2 in parallel get more or less power than the 4 in series?
Also, I thought this was part of why some cab makers use different speakers of the same size in a cab with creative wiring (like if the group of 2 were X watts and the group of 4 were Y watts.)
This is all very scientific and as you can tell, I'm more of an idea man than a scientist.
Well the juice would be divided up between a set of four speakers and a set of two speakers. The pair of speakers would be seeing more power. In theory. I'm also an idea guy and not a scientist.
I bet if you emailed the fine people at Berg or Ampeg, they'd give you the answer about their 610s, although they're both wired at 4 ohms, I think.
This may not be a feasible idea, but if you're planning to ALWAYS run both cabs at the same time, you could think from a perspective of how to wire all 12 speakers together into a single 4 ohm or 2 ohm load.
Normally I'd expect that someone would want some modularity / option of just running one, but I never see any of you guys take the conservative route when it comes to how many speakers you bring to a gig.

Just got back from practice. We auditioned a singer who was so so, then our friend and former Dethlehem singer came out because he said he was interested. Holy ****! He killed it. Brought the songs to another level they never reached as instrumental. Don't want to jump the gun, but assuming he's fully down for it (which I think he is, he said he was really interested and really liked our stuff) I think we've found our singer. A bonus from this is there is no awkward "getting to know the new guy" period that throws off the mojo we already have with the four of us. Plus after being the lead vocalist for a costumed D&D band, he's got plenty of stage presence.
Messed with the gain stage of the 7 Pro a bit more at practice tonight. At one point I looked down at the amp to check my settings, as the tone I was getting was absolutely bone crushing, and I realized the master volume knob was at 10:30! This amp is ridiculously loud and sounds incredible. Very happy I bought it.

Options. This is why I wired my cabs to run at either 4ohm or 16ohm. I can just grab one 2x15 or the 810 and run it at 4ohm, or both 2x15's at 8ohm, or the 810 and a 2x15 at either 8 ohm or 2ohm, or both 2x15's at 2ohm, or the 810 stereo with each 410 running at 8ohm. It's all about the options.
On a side note I'm off to see Queen Elephantine now. Tomorrow it's Church of Misery, Gates of Slumber, and Elder. Pretty good week for shows out here. I wish I was going to MDF though, Even though there is only like 4 bands I want to see.
I've always had a good time at MDF, irrespective of the bands. Just a great, fun, party atmosphere.
Artillery and Deceased are playing a show Saturday in Brooklyn. My gf's bands are playing it too, so I'll at least get to check out Artillery. Deceased is also awesome but I've seen them a couple of times.

I'll be skipping mdf this year after going the last 3 years. Saw some great bands last year but people were real dicks and kind of soured it for me.

It kinda depends on the venue and who's on the bill. Some of the warehouse shows used to be great but most of it has been shut down. Actually we're going through a bit of a change right now with venues closing/changing and new ones trying to get rolling. We should try and set something up if you wanna come down.
Yeah I usually can't stand festival shows. It's always some group of D'bags that start to ruin it for me. Can't you just have a good time and not be a doosh?
We're friends with the guys in Kanerko and have played with them a few times. They do well up here but when we've gone down there with them it's been disappointing. KC's Tap was meh and Firehouse something (13? maybe?) was meh.
I'll play anywhere - especially anywhere outside Mass as we've pretty much saturated Worcester and Boston - so I'd definitely be down with working something out of town.
