Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 11 - "Bath Time"

New album now being mastered!

Anyone here ever try the Dr. Scientist The Elements? looks like it would make for a ver good versatile OD, distortion and fuzz pedal...its between that and the Rat Tail right now. looking for an aggressive distortion.

My only issue with either of those pedals is the mountain of options! I prefer to keep things simple.

I bet either of them can get aggressive enough. I would tip my hat to the elements simply because it also includes a three band EQ.

Cool Sam can't wait to hear it!

We officially have a singer now. Told him we want him and he said he's down. I'd imagine we'll probably start working towards getting ready to record an LP. That's really exciting for me, because even though I've been in some awesome bands, the timing has never been right where I've gotten to record in a studio.

I saw your earlier posts and it sounds like you have found your guy which is awesome. looking forward to hearing some jam room tracks.

Who is doing the mastering or are you guys doing it yourself?

No we are not doing it ourseleves. we are going with the same guy who mastered our first album. producedbybond.com

We actually recorded and mixed at the same studio we recorded and mixed the first album as well (metalocker studios)but the approach and attention to detail was very different. The album doesn't sound like the first one production wise. I think it is still very Monobrow (and probably closer to our live sound) but I'll let you guys decide once its ready.

I like tweakable pedals. i prefer to keep my amps simple. The Elements is quite a bit more expensive than the RT though so it may just come down to price.

and Laz i think you should go with Black Supervoid :hiding:

it was two 612 cabs. again im not too bummed about it, ive got solid 612 cabs made of good marine baltic birch, they just need some TLC because wade clearly started them and when his life went to hell he never touched them again.

only thing im bitter about is him not tolexing them. everything else (even the speakers) im ok with, tolexing just costs a decent amount. ive got a guy who usually hooks me up with decent prices so hopefully i can get them done for relatively cheap, but most of the cab issues that i need to fix are just gonna require time and effort.

an emperor 612 starts at $1175. it can be as high as $1275 and im not even sure thats with shipping. so you figure even the cheapest through emperor (potentially without shipping) would have been $2350. so considering i paid wade $1450, that is a $900 dollar difference. the speakers im getting wont run me that high, so again, only the tolex job will send me over the edge (and piss me off lol).

At $50 a gallon, I'd go with Duratex over regular tolex any day of the week. Spreads like paintand mega easy to work with. Just a thought. Might also be good to build a frame and do speaker cloth on the front.

Hey dudes. Been here for a while but still kind of new. My name is Evan, been in to doom and drone for about 6 years now. Just wanted to drop in and say hi!

I just placed an order with Verellen for a 1x12 bass cab. Ben is super nice and so easy to work with. I will keep you dudes informed if you wish!

I don't know if you guys solved the 6x12 ohms debate but 6x10's made by major manufacturers use 6 ohm speakers or they make an 8 ohm 4x10 and an 8 ohm 2x10. Or they run it at 5.3 ohms and call it 4 ohm because its all nominal anyway.

This. 5.3 and call it 4. It really is close enough and if you have an amp that will run 8/4 ohms, something in the middle won't kill you. just check for overheating at every 30 minute mark.

So, been pretty bummed that my grandma died. However, I am meeting some dudes tomorrow to jam. Keep your fingers crossed.

Sorry about your grandma, Joe.

Talked to my Dually builder again today. Things have been smoothed out. My cab should be done in 2-3 weeks. I think anxiety from Monolith and EarCandy made me panic a bit after things weren't going perfectly as planned. I can't wait to hear what the 7 Pro sounds like through one of those things.
