Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 28: Chicken Pot Pie

It onle seems quiet because your eardrums have already exploded after the sound check!

;)

+1 to that.

Although, I think Beebass and Demon666 actively use the biggest rigs in our thread. Someone can confirm or deny. Dude, I want to hear what you two guys would do in the same band as a two dude bass SunnO))) project, maybe drums. Both of you guys got chops and gear. Can you imagine???

:bawl: I pooped my pants, mommy.

Drums? You can't hear the drums over their rigs as it is. Combine the too there would be no point ha ha

Curious to hear about this hardwired MXR EQ monstrosity though, details?

I've seen two heads that have this thing done. It's basically an old blue box MXR eq that has the A/C cable permanently attached, they then take the plug off and wire it directly in to the power supply of the amp, just not sure if its pre amp pre-amp or post amp pre-amp. My friend fezzy has one and he said when he uses it is causes all kinds of issues so he just bypasses it. Dixie had an almost identical head and mod back in the day, not sure what came of it though. As apparently it wasn't a very reliable mod.

No joke, You would need a dedicated PA system just to mic the drums (and probably around 5k watts). And forget about vocals...lol.

And for the one second they play (before the city block power surges), will be like God ate a bunch of deviled eggs, chili, and beer, then let one rip. :ninja:

im loading my 612s tonight, pray to the god of wade that these things pan out haha!

In my opinion, it sounds like pure vintage solid state grind. A distortion pedal may change the flavor a tad but 90% of the tone is coming from the Sunn's if you ask me, so I doubt he'd bother with a pedal.

I talked to him a little about his rig and had a good look. He said he uses "no pedals, just drop D and cranked up". I did he had a tuner and I believe that was velcro'd to his cab. I wish I knew about the MXR because I didnt give much a look. All I saw was the Sunn Concert and the slave. The bass was up and treble down. I believe one of the cabs was a Seismic 215. The other I dont know about but a previous poster said Mesa. Looks to be right.

BTW Dixie says hi ya'll!

i have a 100w head with 2x KT88s that is being modded to crank out approx 140-160w at peak.. hopefully it will keep up with the AD200B i borrow sometimes! i'll keep an eye out for the 200 watters you guys mentioned and hope they pop up cheap. i wish to hell i could afford a matamp or electric or green (or preferably, DUNWICH!) right now.

I should say peak wattage is kind of irrelevant, and what you wanna know is RMS wattage at minimum, with significantly other things to consider such as OT frequency response and power response, what level of THD, what temperature rise in the PT allows for that kind of power ect ect. Not to kill ur buzz on getting a louder amp or anything, just something to consider.
