My office at home is pretty much a mixing studio. I used to have a 1000 sq ft tracking space that I recorded in as a side job, but when our business went from becoming a dealer to a distributor, I needed the warehouse space for storage. Plus, I was tired of doing it. So I sold all my rack gear, my board, kept all my mics and switched over to a more home recording friendly setup. I took about a year to plan out the acoustic treatment and placement of everything, so I have a good mix environment. I'm not finished though, I still have a cloud and 2 side panels I have to mount. I just haven't felt like doing it and the 8 panels I already have set up make the room pretty flat sounding for listening as is. Good enough to mix the last few releases I've done.

I have a jazz I did a shielding job in with metallic paint and now it is dead silent - even with the pickups at different volumes.

Could always track somewhere near home and see if you could get Corey to mix it.
I actually think he keeps a tuner and some drive pedal on the top of his cabs but I've never been able to get a good look. I'm friends with him on facebook, maybe he'll answer me

Yeah. I asked "Why tapes?" and it was deleted. I thought it was an honest question. As a player/consumer, I can't wrap my head around it. But yeah, they rock it. Good band, seem like nice guys, I just don't know. They are opening the Jucifer show, though!

It's not a drive pedal, he had an MXR EQ hardwired into his main concert bass head (much like fezzy's concert bass). His whole rig looks very very different then i remember though, so does Keko's drums. Only Shep is still rocking the same rig, those white marshalls, white les paul, and an old as hell russian big muff.

My buddy would know. His guitar player was super good friends with Dixie. They stayed and played at his place when they came through Denver a while back. Tried out his olds BC Rich Mockingbird. Dixie wanted to keep it but my buddy wasn't start struck. lol. I can ask him and report back. Been awhile since I talked to him, but we'll see.
I think I do remember seeing an MXR. I'm not sure what you mean about his rig though. He's been using the same cab/amp/bass combo for the past 3-4 years at least.
In that pic his heads are in alot better condition then the ones i remember (all though my memory is hazy and smoke filled), and apparently he's using a modded squier now instead of his old 70's p-bass with insanely high action. The cab's do look the same though. When we played with them at DC9 back in '08 (when i was drumming for OS) they crashed at Kerch's house after the show, for some reason i remember him using two of the wide silver face Sunn SS amp's at that show. Which was 4 years ago so he might have changed his rig soon after to what he is currently using.
Awating reply, but I always thought it was just the head and slave. a 73' and 72' if I remember correctly. Atleast that's the conclusion I thought we came to. And then we all agreed, it must be the dirty bass strings.

In my opinion, it sounds like pure vintage solid state grind. A distortion pedal may change the flavor a tad but 90% of the tone is coming from the Sunn's if you ask me, so I doubt he'd bother with a pedal.
Curious to hear about this hardwired MXR EQ monstrosity though, details?
